Great hospitality and great food. Lovely presentation of my grilled salmon with soba dish. The salmon was cooked to perfection. Will return next time.

Overall it was a nice night with good food. The main disappointment was our seating allocation - we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and unfortunately were placed in a communal seating area. Although we asked for a more private area we were informed the people who were allocated the more private tables booked before us. Worth keeping in mind should you wish to have a romantic dinner for two.

My partner said the restaurant had great ambience and I had to agree, it’s a great place to dine, it felt warm and non intrusive. The pumpkin cheesecake was amazing and is a dish that will stay with us for some time to come. Overall we left very happy

I had a dinner for my 50th Birthday. 6 people and we all really enjoyed our experience. Will definitely be back.

We received basic service this time around - we were there to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, which was mentioned in my booking request. It was almost an hour between receiving our entree and main meal - the wine was very ordinary with what we've come to expect at Pony. Despite having dined here many times over the years, we won't be rushing back any time soon.

Made a booking for two ended up on a bench table outside next to a young couple 3 vacant seats alongside us we are told they are taken the ten minutes later one couple sit in the middle of the three. Could have spaced us all out a little better.

About the restaurant

Style and sass at Pony...

Widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the wood fire grill in Sydney, Pony offers an honest flavour driven menu that showcases prime Australian produce, a carefully crafted boutique selection of wines and a cheeky cocktail list. At the heart of the kitchen is a signature Argentinean wood fire grill which is used to create sensational meat dishes, prepare fresh seafood and an array of shared and larger plates.

Pony Dining is located in Sydney's oldest laneway within the historic and bustling dining precinct of The Rocks. Restaurant designer Michael McCann has transformed the centuries old building into a stunning dining space that features a large open kitchen (with a pony hide clad counter), a 10 meter long dining table on the outdoor deck, an intimate lounge for pre-dinner drinks, heritage brick walls, and commissioned woven art hangings - making this space a truly unique dining destination.

Best dish: Pony Cut Rib Eye (450g)
