Improved food since renovation but service a little slow. Person taking orders needs to be carful not to forgot items, we didn’t receive a side dish we ordered and then after waiting 30minutes relised it wasn’t coming. They apologised for this however.

    Portsea Hotel

Hi, Thanks for your review. We're sorry about the missed item when you dined with us, we've got some significant improvements to our food ordering systems on the way so these sorts of things don't happen. We hope to see you again soon. Cheers

We went on a night when there was a wedding on. Our seats were next to the function room so it was noisy and we had to use the downstairs bar to order food and drink which meant a trip outside too

The place was not full and there was a long wait at the bar, how will they cope in Summer?

    Portsea Hotel

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to review us. We apologise for the wait times you experienced on your recent visit, as we approach peak season there will be some significant changes to ordering systems and there will be more bars open here at the venue than ever before. Thanks for your feedback, we've taken it onboard and look forward to when you visit us next to see the improvements in our venue. Cheers.

The salad that came with my meal consisted of lettuce, lettuce and almost only lettuce, surely these days I would expect a lot more. I’m coeliac and I do appreciate the variety of the gf meals.

    Portsea Hotel

Hi Neale, Thanks for taking the time to review us. Thanks also for the generally strong scores you gave, we're keen to understand a bit more around the food you had, if you could contact us directly at info@portseahotel.com.au that'd be great. Thanks again for your review. Cheers.

Friendly staff, but needed a lot more staff for Saturday lunchtime - they were under the pump, but kept calm. Queues for food & drinks way too long and time consuming when only there for a couple of hours. Farro salad - delish Parma very average for Portsea pub! Pot of beer expensive Ok priced cocktails 1 tiny bit of chicken in Caesar with chicken at extra cost. All up though, a lovely setting and friendly staff.

    Portsea Hotel

Hi Monica, Thanks for your review, it's great to get feedback. We appreciate your patience with the situation on Saturday, it's not a scenario we aim for with long wait time and queues. Thanks for the positive comments around our staffing team on the day, we were caught short with some staff calling in sick at the last minute and so the team on Saturday worked hard to cover things. We apologise for the wait times you experienced, there's improvements coming to the ordering procedure very soon. Thanks again.

Be good to offer lactose free milk for coffee Table service in placing down meals could be sharpened up, eg spare cutlery/plates/serviettes

The entree of wagu croquettes was a really great start but it went downhill from there. The main of eye fillet was not worth the almost $50 price tag. Ordered medium but came out mooing, paired with a poor attempt at a salad (handful of rocket and not much more) and fries (at least make your own and not use frozen ones) did nothing to save this meal. It was boring to say the least. Very disappointing.

We reserved a table the day before. When we arrived, the place was very busy ( it was Saturday night). We were given a table right where people were queuing for food and drink. We asked politely if our table could be moved about two metres away. The young man on duty dragged it away, displaying such bad humour that the knives and forks went flying. He was the one working on the front desk. Not the professional behaviour expected! It put a damper on the night and gave us a bad impression of your establishment. This should be addressed.

    Portsea Hotel

Hi, Thankyou for your review, it provides very valuable feedback. We apologise for the poor experience and service you received at our venue on Saturday evening, please contact us directly at info@portseahotel.com.au so that we may gather further details in order to address the issues you've raised. Apologies again and thankyou.

All was good except for a very bad open fire that smoke billowed out to where we were sitting - Unpleasant
