One of my favourite hidden gems in Melbourne. Tucked away in a mostly residential street, Project 49 serves up great service, consistently good food and wine to match. Go with an appetite and order the feed me menu!

An example of what a truly great Italian restaurant should be like - Rocco delivers a warm environment with great wine guidance to match the flavours of the puttanesca style of food. The Raghu Gnocchi is the best.suggestions

We had a wonderful evening as it was our first time at Project49 but the service was warm and friendly but not intrusive. Rocco and Lisa know their food and wine and go out of their way to ensure you enjoy it. Excellent modern Italian food. Should be a destination for everyone??

We chose the Feed Me menu @ $75 per head for 7 courses and were a bit disappointed by the small amount of food that was served between 4 people. Certainly tasty! Wine list was great and suggestions for a craft beer was spot on!

The food was exceptional. An amazing adaptation on some traditional Italian food that left us over satisfied and longing to come back again

Fantastic restaurant with some bold, traditional Italian recipes on the menu. Very unique. Farm to table was excellent and definitely worth the extra effort they put in. Highly recommend it.

The menu was unassuming, and differed from tyhe website. So we went for the "feed me 9 course menu". The food was unbelievable. Such a great variety of interesting but very tasty food combinations. I wish the wine list would have a few more choices below the $50 mark though.

Despite booking weeks ago, we were allocated a table right near the door where a cold draft of air from the gap betwen the door and the wall kept us chilly all night. The service was all over the shop; no consistency with personnel and we had to constantly ask for fresh drinks etc. The food took a while to come, but was worth the wait and the restaurant was dealing with a couple of large tables as well. If they can improve their service this would be a really good value for money restaurant.
