Seriously good food and attentive service but taking the brunt of the current crisis so very quiet but could see with more tables filled would be a lovely ambience. We wish then luck at this difficult time !
Service was excellent
Always amazing, never disappoints
Beautiful food in the right ambiance.
Only had 1 waiter who was overwhelmed handling just a few tables. Had to wait a long time to be seated and even longer to simply order cause the waiter was too busy. Food was okay not amazing and not bad
If you like quality wine, lovely food, intimate/tasteful setting then this your place. The Wine Bar always delivers and the staff are lovely and accomodating.
Had dinner between Harry Potter performances. Were seated early and finished in plenty of time. The service was personal and excellent. The menu is not too extensive and the quality is what you would expect from a french restaurant. The ambiance is cosy and sophisticated. Would definitely go back again.
Good service and great food
The restaurant is in a great location for theatre goers. The service from staff was very helpful and efficient. Whilst the menu is not large it had interesting choices and the quality was very good. The wine list is extensive.
Friendly and efficient service and we were made to feel welcome We all chose the tasting menu and were not disappointed A delicious selection chosen by the Chef Only small negative was the noise level but it was good to see so many people enjoying themselves
Our waiter Jason did a great job!
Whilst the fiod was good , and the service excellent, there was little choice-Very small menu and the atmosphere dull. A very good choice of wine though, and staff were very knowledgeable and charming.
I hadn't been here for a whuile. I wasn't disappointed. The place has a lovely feel to it. Was buzzing nicely. Food was terrific. Staff were friendly. Worth a visit.
An old favourite. The food was delicious, complemented with a sublime wine list, warm ambience and excellent service. A truly wonderful way to start the new year.
Such a gorgeous and elegant little restaurant with delicious dishes and an extensive drinks list - perfect for intimate dinners, would definitely recommend!
We visit from Perth every few years and Punch Lane is the first place we visit for dinner. In the past they have fitted us in before going to the theatre . So welcoming and wonderful food. Our favourite place
Lovely atmosphere, service and food. Bit on the expensive side, otherwise very good.
Tremendous service. We’ve been before with wonderful food. Not quite at their best tonight but we’ll be back.
Really value that this restaurant has been here for the past 20 plus years , in this day and age it certainly says something . Really enjoyed the food , service and wine on the night
Beautiful food, beautiful service, beautiful wine We had the tasting menu and one of our guests had a baby sitter issue and had to leave early, they altered to speed and organised a takeaway dessert so she could get away. Could not ask for better.

Pack a punch...
So does Punch Lane pack a punch after almost two decades of service? Certainly does. Positioned at the top end of Bourke Street, this Melbourne treasure has been a Melbourne institution for years, welcoming good food and wine lovers into it’s cosy, intimate European setting night after night. The dining room is surrounded with timber, leather accents and red chairs - it’s the kind of place you feel the need to light up a cigar and sip on a brandy.
During the day the restaurant is a popular setting for lunch meetings, with an a la carte menu or an express lunch offering two courses with a glass of wine and coffee to finish (for $39 - not bad!). The food is contemporary Mediterranean with occasional Asian and Middle Eastern inflections and as a restaurant that has been at the forefront of Melbourne’s cheese platter culture, Punch Lane is the perfect place for theatre-goers to have a feed pre show. With warm and welcoming service, you’ll feel snug as a bug in your excellent hospitality doona, this old world city bistro knows how ti impress.
