Best place in lagos

Lovely service from arrival to departure, couldn't fault it. Only slight disappointment was that there was just one of the two vegan options available, however all the food was beautifully prepared and delicious. Highly recommend.

This was our second visit, our first being one year previously. It is a unique and special place, with personal service and excellent food. Well worth a visit, especially for a special occasion.

Delicious food, beautiful ambience, attentive and friendly service. We went with our children and they were welcomed and taken care of. A really lovely night.

2 of us have made the reservation. We were greeted by the owner right away. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. The food served within 15 mins. and it was hot. The food was prepared simply and not pretentious. The food tasted better than we expected. Just delicious. We had warm and soft bread and olives in oil. We dipped our bread in the oil and it was very very good. We had the seared fresh tuna with sesame crust (medium-rare) and black pork cheeks slow-cooked in red wine and the amazing pear poached in Port. Overall we enjoyed the entire meal. We recommend you to make reservation. It has 6-7 tables only. We highly recommend this place.

The Portugese is simply fabulous from start to finish it’s a fantastic restaurant to have food drink and leave with great memories. Joal and the staff make every effort to let ok after you. Though please realise that you will have to book in advance unless there’s a late cancellation. I have been a regular for several years and it’s the part of my holiday I most look forward to. From the Cataplan steak desserts to wine a sheer joy. I wish Joal and his wife every success and best wishes for the baby to come in January.

I have been coming to Real Portuguese for several years and it’s a sheer delight. Joal make you so welcome and it’s such an intimate restaurant 6 tables inside and a only a few outside tables. From start to finish there can be no complaint. Seriously this is the best restaurant on the Algarve. Please don’t think you can walk up and get a table, try to book in advance or come really early and you might get a cancellation. Joal is determined not to expand as he feels quality and service would suffer. I’m in agreement stay as you are thank you again and we are back again several times this holiday.

A lovely quiet restaurant with exceptional food and although prices are slightly higher than normal you are eating at a QUALITY restaurant. Staff very friendly and welcoming and highly recommended.

We loved our time at Real and Joao was excellent. I had the sea bass and my girlfriend had the tuna. The real star of the show was the baked cheese appetizer. Top notch sea food!

The second time we have eaten at this wonderful restaurant the atmosphere is lovely the service is extremely friendly and the food is simply excellent.

Dinner for 4 on May 13. We had reservations (a must) and were promptly seated. The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. The presentation looked like it was done by an artist. Husband/wife (wife is the chef) team work very closely together with extremely capable support staff. This was one of the most memorable dinner experiences we have ever had. Deserves 10 stars!!!!!
