I had port belly for Entree, it was fantastic and full of flavour. Then I had the scotch fillet as main. It was average as I found the steak was a bit chewy. Dessert I had Lemon Myrtle and lime parfait and it was beautiful and yummy.

Overall good, the exception was the meats in our main dishes. My partner was unable to cut her kangaroo even with a steak knife, while my steak was over 20% grizzle and excess fat and could not be eaten.

We booked on the app and found ourselves stuck in a corner behind the cash register with a high volume of traffic passing. Next time we’ll ask for a view of the river. The food was excellent though.

We were treated to the sights of cobwebs by the window. All other guests received a brief description about their dishes while being served, we received none! 29th Jan, 7:45 reservation and we sat at the far end of the restaurant. The only good news is the food did not disappoint, so kudos to the chef!

Top quality cuisine, adventurous without being ridiculous and while also being healthy. Good sized serves too. Beautiful spot. We were so glad we'd chosen the Red Ochre for our special occasion.

It was a bit disjointed in the beginning with our table location. Beautiful views from our windowfront atrium setting. However, when the rain started , a few leaks meant our table was shifted along 3 times. We opted for the feed me menu and the variety, quality and quantity could not be faulted. Very attentive staff. We have been here several times and will return again.

Had 3 courses set menu. Had squid for entree. Portion was so small and bad presentation and meant to be hot but was room temperature and Confited duck leg for main . Duck was cold and no flavour. , dried...Pudding for dessert tasted very dry . Only plate looks good but bad quality of food and bad presentation.

The food and service are great! Would be better if the temperature of the room could be a little warmer in order that while dinning the food doesn't get cold quickly.

Venue is brilliant on a calm evening looking over Torrens Lake to the city center. Food very good although limited menu. Good selection of wines by the glass at a reasonable price. Service excellent.

We thought our dining experience was ok. We were disappointed that some of the items on their menu weren’t available and they had ran out of. Considering it was a Saturday night and you have to order minimum two courses. Other than that the food that we did order was ok. The duck Ragu had too much of a tomato flavour and the herbs and spices couldn’t be tasted. If you love tomato it tasted ok, but for $30 their wasn’t much duck! I wouldn’t order again. The steak was ok again not great considering it was $30! Crocodile and squid entree’s were lovely but again $30 each I’m not sure it was that good! Would we rush back? Probably not for the price tag! We’d expect better food and service!

We were accommodated with a window facing seat, even though we had booked on the same day, which was much appreciated. We chose the three course meal, and selected the entree, main and dessert we wanted. I had selected octopus for my entree, but was given squid instead. However, I hadn't noticed initially and started eating it; I was pleasantly surprised and found this delicious. When I had nearly finished the dish, the server came over and told me that they'd given me the wrong dish, but as I had nearly finished the entree and I liked it, they took the octopus entree away. My partner had kangaroo as a main and it was incredibly delicious (I had a taste), but my duck ragu was not particularly good. The pasta was clearly packet pasta and there was less duck than I'd expected. The dessert of creme brulee would have been delicious but for the inclusion of giant pieces of zest/orange peel. It was really unpleasant and ruined the dessert for me. If it had been finely grated, it would have been better as the creme brulee itself was otherwise well prepared and presented. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice, although music could be improved and the decor is starting to look slightly dated. But there is no denying that having a view of the river makes for a romantic evening; it's just a shame all of the dishes weren't of the same quality, particularly given the price for dining here.

Excellent greeting and seating. Starter choice had good options and all selected had great flavor and value. Mains were perfect for all. We are still praising the night experience and expect to return.

Had a wonderful meal topped of with a great view. The Salmon and Crocodile entrees were shared by 3 of us and was a nice way to start the meal. We all enjoyed our mains - Pork, Kangaroo and Barramundi. Decided to just share the pavlova and it was a nice way to finish off the meal. Would go again.

About the restaurant

In the Red

Red Ochre is a firm favourite amongst South Australian locals and visitors alike, after a successful move several years back to its current, permanent home on the banks of the River Torrens which accentuates the views of the beautiful Festival Centre, major hotels and Adelaide skyline. The cuisine at Red Ochre has always been top notch, and service is of the highest quality. The décor is light, airy and hushed, allowing that perfect first date or special occasion to flourish. Try the signature dishes such as the salt and pepper crocodile, or perhaps some miso and sesame-crusted yellow fin tuna. Just don't forget to save room for the Red Ochre liquid Toblerone - it's sensational - or if you’re trying to impress an overseas guest, suggest they try the wattleseed pavlova.

Best dish: North QLD Fortune Bay barramundi.
