Great location looking over the river with all the lights. Really good selection on the seafood platter; it was almost a pity there was so much as it took time to eat and the hot items cooled. Schnapper was little overcooked might be the only negative of the whole night Staff really could not have done more for us

The sea food meal for 2 was excellent, fresh, hot, enough and healthy. The staff were bright, happy, attentive and helpful. The location at South bank overlooking the river was great and there was a lovely breeze.

Great place for a meal. bit pricey and portions a bit meagre - but top spot for a romantic date. The waiter had just started on the job and was trying hard - he will do well over time.

Very tasty food and lovely open location looking out over the river - but the restaurant appeared to be under-staffed since we struggled to get noticed when we arrived, the staff brought out our seafood platter but without plates to eat off, said they would get some plates but hen got distracted by other customers and so our food sat there getting cold and we eventually had to resort to reminding them to bring us some plates to eat off. They were very apologetic and pleasant but it seems there were too few staff that evening.

Service was very good, pleasant atmosphere in a great location. Children’s meals were very good value and nice. Revived a drink I didn’t order And asked them to take back then upon paying the bill found it on the itemised bill and before I said anything to the lady she asked if I wanted that removed which seemed to suggest she already knew it shouldn’t have been there which was poor form. The Seafood platter for 2 was extremely small and not very good for the price!

Looks a little side walk cafe, BUT the food was amazing. Fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked. Very reasonably priced and with a great view. Sidewalk public were the only distraction. Will definitely revise and will take more friends.

We were greeted at the entrance with a smile and promptly brought to our reserved table at the alfresco area. The person serving us (and there was only 1 for the entire restaurant) was very attentive, polite, having a good demeanour. Our order was taken promptly, and food arrived within a reasonable time. We ordered the fried white bait as entree - this was tasty but highly salted - so the chef could have done with less salt. The seafood paella was perfect with generous servings of seafood - though we were left with some MSG aftertaste for the night. Other than the issue of MSG and heavy-handed salt, food was tasty!

We are good cooks, fussy eaters and my man is a fisher and I was concerned about facing the general quality of food that I associate with Southbank however I booked there due to the location and availability on a Tuesday night and competing with Melbourne Cup bookings in other places. We had a really good meal and none of us could complain which was a really good outcome. However for a fish restaurant I think they should know more about the product and speak to where it came from ( of which we were concerned that the information given could not be correct with what we know about we have fish is caught and grown). I’m also a bit unsure why anybody would put what tasted like a bought pesto from a jar, all over Mooloola bar swordfish. I do understand that they would have people there that don’t really like fish and that would be a good option for them. The whole snapper was a real treat and at $45 for a share meal was an amazing bargain. This was the photo worthy. We really appreciated The Sushima tuna but again the sesame flavouring was too strong for me. The bug boa buns were fun and the whitebait was a lot better than I expected and a lot better than I have recently been served with less salt and more crisp. Serving sizes were good and the champagne was a little more expensive than I’d hoped. Very good value and friendly staff. View and atmosphere wonderful. It was just good to see people working - so sorry to see all the closed places on Grey St. I wish them well.

I had lunch there with my boyfriend today. He ordered chilli prawns pasta, flavour was plain, prawns defenitely not fresh it’s obviously frozen that was bought from the shop. I had barramundi, it was overcooked, oily and can definitely tell it has been in the freezer as the skin isn’t crispy at all. I thought everything will fresh but it wasn’t, too pricey to pay just for the process food! So disappointed!

We ordered the paella and it was really disappointing. The prawns were overcooked and rubbery. The muscles were cold and the rice was sticky. We will not be eating there again.

The staff were friendly on arrival and throughout the meal. We were seated at a front table and had a lovely view across the river looking to the city. The drinks and wine list was good, I ordered an Aperol Spritz and Shaw & Smith Sauvignon Blanc, and they came out quickly, The food was tasty and good sized portions.

We booked online and when we arrived it took quite awhile for us to be acknowledged and there was no table set aside. Once seated, staff were quick to serve our drinks but then we waited over half an hour to place our food order - staff were talking behind bar, clearing tables and patrons who arrived after us were served first. The Reef and Beef was expensive for what was provided and the fish tacos were tasty but incredibly oily. We didn’t eat the chips either as they were also incredibly oily. Nice view but not a pleasant place to sit due to uncomfortable stools, harsh lighting and loud music.

We have been to River Quay Fish several times and have always enjoyed both the food and the setting overlooking the river. Portions are generous and the fish is prepared and presented very well. We will certainly be back again.

We were really disappointed with River Quay Fish. The drinks seemed to take forever and our entrees order was "misplaced" and didn't arrive until after our mains were served. To top it off the steaks and bugs were overcooked. The staff were apologetic but the damage was done.
