Great bustling atmosphere, set in an art gallery style space. Open kitchen in the centre, high ceilings, bar upstairs. Food is classic fine dining Italian with some modern twists. Homemade pasta and great seafood, rich meats, and fine cocktails.

Food is always amazing at Sagra. We have been several times and watching the chefs, in front of you, prepare the meals still amazes us. Wonderful flavours, from a lot of hard work, that goes into every meal. If you go on a Wednesday night you can have delicious food, great wine and awesome tunes... what more do you need for a lovely romantic time. I would thoroughly recommend Sagra for that special night out.

Expensive, but not worthy

Waitress kept disappearing therefore waited really long time to put our orders in for dinner and especially desert. Not nice to hear kitchen floor being swept down while still eating. Average food, veal Ragu was sloppy and didn’t appear fresh. Expensive $18 chocolate stout cake desert tasted stale/flavourless.

Food was nice and certainly no complaints but expensive particularly for the restaurant - same prices that you see at high caliber restaurants such as Chin Chin, Tonka etc however the quality of food, atmosphere and service doesn’t match the price. Given the area is densely family populated with medium-high sociodemographics, there is such a missed opportunity to have well priced meals that attract families and groups that want to stay local and still eat a good meal at a reasonable price point ($20-$30)

My friend and I came for the truffle menu which comprised of 3 dishes (truffle pasta being the best dish on this special menu). However upon arrival, we luckily overheard a waiter mention that there was only 2 pasta left that could be made for the night, and we had arrived at the restaurant at 6.30pm.. We were fortunate enough to "reserve" one of the pastas as we had to quickly order through all our dishes. Would be great if they could stock up on the truffle since this is their special menu for this winter season. Further to this, our water glasses weren't constantly being filled and we had to remind waiters to assist. This potentially had occurred due to low amount of staff [only 2-3 waiters on the floor] on a busy Friday night service. Despite being busy, the waiter/waitresses were lovely. Otherwise, their Chianti was lovely and the other dishes we order (king fish as entree, fried beef ribs for main [this was very unique and delicious!] and shoestring fries with truffle oil) was great ! I would definitely come back even without the truffle menu :)

I've been a few times and have always enjoyed it. The food is delicious each time. This time the service wasn't up to its usual standard. After at least 15 minutes of our arrival, I had to flag down a staff member to order drinks, as no one had paid us any attention at all. Many walked past, some on numerous occasions but just looked at us and kept walking. Very strange. We deliberately booked an 8pm session as we didn't want to have to leave after 2hrs (their policy on a friday and saturday night) so it was also disappointing that we were expected to leave just after 10pm. We were the last ones in the restaurant and first we were told to order dessert as the kitchen is closing and then brought the bill as soon as we finished dessert. So why state we can come after 8pm if we want to stay longer than 2hrs, when they close so early? And this is a Friday night. As I said, I am normally very happy coming here but I hope that the way we were treated on Friday was just a one off bad night for them and not a sign of things to come.

About Sagra

A foodie emporium Sagra - a spectacular four levelled, Italian food institution in the heart of Malvern. Whether you're popping in to grab some groceries from the gourmet deli, dining in the restaurant, cruising through the art gallery or having a drink on high in the roof top bar, you're bound to be having a good time. This glamorous food emporium is a product of capitalist turned restaurateur Ross Chessari - and he's done a very fine job indeed. Now to the menu - a sharing-friendly phenomena which includes loads of Italian delights. And there's also a separate menu of meat, fish, poultry and veg from the Josper grill which pack some serious flavour flavour punch. Sagra serves up glamour and decadence by the plateful - trust us, you'll never want to leave. Best Dish: linguini mare
