Good service and great food. The Wagyu strip, beef tataki, and hiramasa kingfish were favourites amongst our party. Dragon egg was divine. Grilled chicken and popcorn shrimp were average. It was not super noisy even though the restaurant was pretty busy for a Tuesday. Definitely would come back.

Arrived right on time but table was not ready. Was told to stand at very crowded bar with little space. Just as I was about to order a drink at the bar I was told the table was ready. Not at all fun! Service was patchy and we had to ask for drinks, for our order to be taken etc. It was disappointing particularly given the cost. Loved Sake before but reluctant to return after most recent experience.

The dragon egg for dessert was the redeeming dish- it’s fun with the perfect balance of sweet and fruity with a combination of textures. The other dishes we had were average and over priced for what they were- 6 tiny pieces of sushi for more than $20. Cape grim short rib came with the smallest portion of meat. The ambience is modern and the service is good though.

Omakase set menu was divine. Dishes on the menu were unique to the ‘a la carte’ menu. Pairing beverages were very well matched. An amazing palate experience. We (2 pax) had a 4 person table to ourselves- so thank you for accommodating that. Perhaps the only criticism is that the chargrilled prawns were a tad on the burnt end. Thank you for a lovely night, my mum really enjoyed the food as did I.

We were lucky to get a semi-private room and it was great. Everything was delicious, we enjoyed everything that we ordered. Good wine list too. Service was professional. Will definitely return!

Brilliant experience for my anniversary dinner with my girlfriend. The New Classics menu was great and the Dragon Egg was so good. Really appreciated the service we received too.

About Sake Restaurant & Bar The Rocks

Sensational Sushi at Saké Saké. Home to Sydney’s best sushi, no doubt about it. Tucked away in a heritage-listed former woolstore in the harbourside suburb of The Rocks, this Sydney dining institution attracts fine diners and business-lunchers alike - all on the hunt for the best sushi in the city. Led by an amazing team of chefs, Saké serves up the clean, fresh flavours of Japan, matched to traditional Japanese wines like sake (it has over 40 varieties). We suggest starting with the Hiramasa Kingfish with Soy Dressing and house made Lime & Jalapeño Kosho and our signature Cape Grim Short Rob Bossam is a standout, as are the tempura and sushi rolls. The sleek, contemporary interior and world class food keeps people coming back again, and again. We’ll say it again. Best sushi in Sydney. Get there. Best dish: Cape Grim Short Rob Bossam with baby gem lettuce, pickles, confit garlic and ssam sauce
