The food was amazing, such precision and delicate flavours. The dragon egg is a must. Both sakis we tried were delicious. Great atmosphere watching the busy kitchen. Having a credit card surcharge at a restaurant of this level is a bit silly though, I’m surprised I wasn’t charged for a sachet of wasabi.

Great food and service. A good atmosphere but noisy. Great range of Saki and Japanese wines to chose from. Will certainly return

Absolutely sublime! The Dragons Egg for dessert is a must, the whole experience was worth every cent!

Food was very very good. I don’t like seafood, but took my fiancée, whom loves seafood, there for her birthday. I had teriyaki lamb chops, which were very very nice, but 1 out of 3 were still bleeding, when I specially asked for “well well done”. However, the rest of the dishes - sushi rolls, shashimi plate, corn and chicken kaarage were delicious. The dessert - Dragons Egg and cremé brûlée were absolutely amazing. I am normally so disappointed in desserts and I love these two.

Our waiter Gabriel was phenomenal with his service. We allowed him to choose our drinks as well as the whole menu for the night. He did a spectacular job with his selections. We were very impressed.

We were here for my partner's birthday. We ordered Sashimi Combo, the Duck, the toothfish and the Dragon Egg. The staff were attentive and they gave us a complimentary birthday cupcake which was nice. The Toothfish was my fav. The Dragon Egg was a tad sweet so one was definitely enough but it had all the theatrics. Overall it was nice.

Our dining experience was overall wonderful. Our waitress Caroline was lovely and helpful with the menu and our service throughout the night; checking up on how our meals were going and whether we needed any assistance. She was friendly and amicable. The food itself was delicious. For a very special occasion, I would visit again.

Never disappoints. Thank you to the excellent staff and the person that looked after us, Alyssa.

About Sake Restaurant & Bar The Rocks

Sensational Sushi at Saké Saké. Home to Sydney’s best sushi, no doubt about it. Tucked away in a heritage-listed former woolstore in the harbourside suburb of The Rocks, this Sydney dining institution attracts fine diners and business-lunchers alike - all on the hunt for the best sushi in the city. Led by an amazing team of chefs, Saké serves up the clean, fresh flavours of Japan, matched to traditional Japanese wines like sake (it has over 40 varieties). We suggest starting with the Hiramasa Kingfish with Soy Dressing and house made Lime & Jalapeño Kosho and our signature Cape Grim Short Rob Bossam is a standout, as are the tempura and sushi rolls. The sleek, contemporary interior and world class food keeps people coming back again, and again. We’ll say it again. Best sushi in Sydney. Get there. Best dish: Cape Grim Short Rob Bossam with baby gem lettuce, pickles, confit garlic and ssam sauce
