Sake is in a Great Location if you are going to a Concert at Hamer Hall. Food is Very Yummy, plus very interesting Cocktails. My favourites at the moment are the Gin Bowls ????
We have been many times but not for a while...the quality and service is great particularly if attending a show. We had a dragon egg dessert and also some umeshu and really enjoyed both. Thanks Sake!
1st visit to sake hamer hall. Previous dinned at the rocks. While the food and service was good the outside area is dirty and needs to be kept to a higher standard inline with pricing.
Set menu with beverage matching was fantastic. Great Flavours. We were let down almost every course by the customer service, drinks food put on the table with no preamble was quite disappointing.
Always great food and excellent service. Loved the mushroom side dish.
Was Pleasantly Surprised at the improvement of Menu Selection & Price, since the last time I went to Sake. Looking forward to going back & trying some more Items on Menu.
Setting is great right next to the river, and the service is good. However the sushi did not taste or smell very fresh, nor did the dumplings. The vegetable dishes (eggplant and mushrooms) were very good. However I think the freshness and quality of the sushi and dumplings need work.
Prompt service, good food. Great location, good pre theatre venue, near Hamer Hall and the Arts Centre. View of the river from outside tables. Happy to return
Beautifully prepared and presented food. Expensive but well worth it.
Great night and great food
Everything was good Drinks waiters couldn’t remember who ordered what
Great spot along the Yarra River. Food fresh and yummy.
The service was good overall however we were served by three different waiters at different times throughout the evening so there was a little less attention to detail than that of some competitors. That being said everyone was nice and well trained so it was a good experience.
This place is suitable for any occasion and any group of people. Beautiful food every time. Can’t rate this restaurant highly enough.
It was a lovely omakase lunch experience. Seafood was fresh! Will definitely come back!
Service, food and atmosphere were exceptional.
Excellent food
Had a lovely omakase. Seafood was super fresh! We had the set menu and they easily obliged to let us swap one item. Pricey but worth it!
Amazing food but so dear you would not visit every week. Ok for special weekend away pre show dinner that is what we did in Melbourne.
Great pre theatre supper

Southbank gets its ?Saké fix!
Nestled into the cavernous façade in Hamer Hall and led by chef extraordinaire Shaun Presland, Saké serves up unique and contemporary Japanese cuisine in a room of polished concrete, red and honey-hued woods, embroidered kimono fabrics, handcrafted crockery and blossoming cherry trees. There are a variety of seating options to suit any occasion – from booths to private dining rooms, bar stools and outdoor tables - each one offering views of the Yarra River and Flinders Street Station. Gaze outside, or watch the culinary team do what it does best in the open kitchen. Teriyaki burger balls (drool!), tender prawn dumplings, wafer thin slices of translucent kingfish and Jap-Mex crisp tacos are just some of the fantastic fare that’s plated up by executive chef, Wayne Brown. One thing’s for sure, if the Yarra River doesn’t impress, the Japanese fare that’s fun and playful will knock your socks off. Here, the combination of food, design and great service creates a winning combination that has this restaurant blossoming all year round!
