    This little cafe restaurant is so warm and cosy with delicious food, a lovely homely atmosphere and service is excellent. Was a bonus to be able to BYO too.

    A group of us have had lunch here every three months for many years and we were very disappointed that there were no specials. We have tried the regular menu and know it off by heart but usually order from the specials. We were able to book the smaller quieter window table and were pleased to see that there are now more smaller tables instead of the larger share tables which were too big for conversation across the table. We will be back in three months and hope the specials have returned.

    We love Salt Pepper Nutmeg. The food is always so good and nothing is ever too much trouble when ordering exactly what you want. The food is fresh and delicious, it is always buzzing and you know you are always going to have a good night there!

    Loved the setting and casual ambience . The flowers were divine on each table . The service was ok . Sat for a long time at the table without any service at all and I found the menu limited . Two out of the 4 dishes were lovely but the calamari tasteless and the lamb ok

    Had a wonderful meal, we enjoyed it very much. Atmosphere as always is lovely and the food is absolutely fantastic. The family hopes to return very soon.

    We go here a lot. They always make us welcome. The food is consistently really good. Good guitar player on Sunday nights. It's one of the few restaurants open on Sunday nights.

    Marion and team have done well. Consistently good fare with lovely ambience. As I’ve said again it’s a great neighbourhood gem that we took overseas relatives to. The polenta was good as were the beef cheeks which were delicious but I wonder if the meat serving portions are smaller than usual? The salad and veges are generous however. Nice to see Salt Pepper and Nutmeg there after many years of patronage.

    As always fabulous food in a cosy atmosphere. Our favourite local and will be back. Snapper was perfect and Spanish cake divine. How they keep the food so Market fresh and seasonal is key.

    I love this restaurant because it's not trying to do or be anything other than itself. No pretentious staff, try-hard menus or loud music. Cosy, yummy and welcoming.

    Beautiful fresh flowers of all shapes and sizes adorn the tables and rows of books line the bookshelves giving this neighbourhood restaurant a lovely cosy and intimate feel. The staff are friendly and the food is super tasty too. It’s a real gem

    Unfortunately, my choice of salad was tasteless and sad. My friend was happy with here though. The cost is too high to run the risk actually... The tea and service was good.

    Always enjoy this compact restaurant. The profusion of seasonal flowers and bookshelves creates a lovely atmosphere for a delicious dinner. Sometimes we use the crayons for spontaneous table art, I have favourites in the menu, but can be tempted with the specials! A great central North Shore location, and handy to Roseville station or parking. And if we can fit in a movie at the cinema, all the better!

    Great atmosphere and food. We had a movie meal deal and felt we were treated a little bit like second class citizens, but still had a lovely meal and the service was good once it came.

    A very underwhelming experience. I was looking forward to this restaurant on some reviews I read. Menu was very limited and I feel the chef should try and keep his meals simple and not yet and add every ingredient going. The slow cooked lam ragu was good, but why add a piece of under cooked broccolini. Service was awful and not once during my meal or when I payed was I asked if everything was ok. This place has potential, but I’m afraid it didn’t deliver this time.

    Very happy with our visit today with 8 ppl today consisting of 6adults, toddler and a newborn baby in a capsule. Staff are very accommodating and we felt extremely comfortable and well looked after. My picky father absolutely loved some of the dishes and said he wants to come back which really means something.. Atmosphere is unique as other posters say with large tables and vases with large flower arrangements on tables. Agree to other comments that their dishes are like a home cooked meal. I must add that all dishes we ordered had lots of vegetables or salad with it and we felt healthy eating all of the dishes. We ordered the garlic bruschetta, lamb blackstrap salad (special), dancing chicken salad, beef cheek and duck all of which were delicious. Toddler had a bolognese but they gave us an option of having the sauce on the side with vegetable sticks on side which was unique and wonderful - especially since my son ate it all!! Some others commented about “the lady not smiling” but I disagree. She was a wonderful host. She just does not smile when she is walking across the room but when you talk to her she is very caring and considerate - especially regarding our children. I highly recommend this place for a unique experience. Thank you salt pepper nutmeg for giving us a great night out!!

    Great atmosphere, live music (not too loud!) & lovely decor. Food was delivered in a timely manner & was delicious. Good potion sizes for the price. Service was OK, little bit slow maybe due to a busy night.

Paul Desmet …..(AKA The Wookiee ) and Marion Desmet arrived in Sydney early 2007.A love of traditional old style cooking and generous Hospitality and aversion to the modern “foams and micro herb”fixation /fad drew them to start SaltPepperNutmeg as a catering company, specialising in canapes and private dining .Many adventures later an opportunity in Roseville came up and the rest is History.

Paul grew up in South Africa. With roots in Europe and a God Mother who worked under Lenotre in Paris, good food was always on the table and traditional skills and recipes are central to the way of working.Paul started in kitchens early in the eighties and His palate was honed in Switzerland,Belgium and London. In 1998 He uprooted the Family and spent the next few years , in Borneo, Malaysia and Singapore. This experience further extended His repetoire and the move to Sydney became a reality in early 2007.

Paul and Marion believe in foraging for the best available ingredients on any given day- small quantities are brought and the mise en place turns over fast. The specials board changes constantly, daily , sometimes twice daily. Regular customers know to get in quick and reserve portions ,especially when the fishing has been good.He has an obsession with Olive Oil and good bread.Paul is completely anal about ripening Tomatoes properly and is on a quest for perfect Gnocchi.Marion looks after the front of house and loves customising Decor and Themes for our functions and events.

Interaction with customers is important and customisation of dishes and menus is encouraged to make every customers experience as unique as possible.Paul has a particular specialisation and interest in catering for special Dietary needs while the Wookie looks after Childrens food and loves encouraging young palates to get away from chips and nuggets
