Excellent
Lovely restaurant, great staff and the ambiance was very inviting. Cocktail bar upstairs is a definite must and the bartenders special was on point
Amazing food accompanied by professional service in a lovely space.
I've been going to Seamstress Restaurant for years both for dinner and lunch with friends and husband. The restaurant decorations in the dining room is great, the food is excellent and the service is friendly and efficient.
Awesome
Awesome cocktails, delicious food, and they were great at helping us get out on time for the theatre. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you!
Coming back.
Food was nice but not exceptional. Couple dishes lacked flavour and some over cooked - overt charred taste to the roti and Brussels sprouts. We’re almost given wrong wine. Bartender’s choice cocktail was lovely.
We had an absolutely delightful night at Seamstress. The food and drinks were divine, the atmosphere was wonderful and the staff were very friendly, kind and attentive. Highly recommend if you are re-emerging from lockdown.
Everything about this place is brilliant. The food is a flavour sensation, the bar is stocked to the ceiling, the old wooden decor and ceiling draped with Chinese silks creates ambiance and cosiness. BUT best of all is the service. Just love a Melbourne restaurant hidden away, with so much to offer.
Great restaurant amazing food. One of my favourite places to eat in Melbourne
Great food. Barramundi was perfect. I really enjoyed this meal in a groovy little spot. I recommend this place and am looking forward to returning.
Very enjoyable
Quirky restaurant - great atmosphere. All COVID considerations taken. Service was great. Food excellent and was enough for what was recommended. Will definitely return !
As usual Seamstress puts on great food and wine! Menu compressed due to Covid, but we had a nice Pinot Noir with the Soft shell crab, baramundi and scallop sashimi. Staff was great and their COVID safety made you feel comfortable without being over the top.
Fabulous share plates great flavours and spices , great atmosphere and timing perfect for theatre start will definitely go again highly recommended
Food fantastic as always. Service was efficient and staff friendly.
Had heard great things about this restaurant and it did not disappoint! The staff were friendly and knew the menu well, Cocktails were excellent and food was delicious. if I lived in melbourne i would be here weekly!!
Have been to Seamstress a few times recently for a quiet lunch and have not been disappointed. The food is fresh and tasty; good clear menu options and service is well timed. The young lady managing the restaurant is welcoming and friendly, attentive and accommodating. There’s a nice atmosphere and it is, for me, a good choice for a nice lunch with friends or colleagues.
Exquisite food supported by outstanding service. We took the "just feed me" option and were astounded with the quality of the dishes selected waiter selected for us. Perfect! I don't live in Melbourne so when ever l visit l go to Seamstress and I'm never disappointed. Excellent in every respect.
fabulous welcoming service, attentive, fully aware of the contents about the menu. flavors were interesting and delightful with great wine choices. love the atmosphere

Things aren’t what they seam
The Seamstress Restaurant lives in a house steeped in history. This is one of Chinatown’s hidden gems. At first it kinda feels like you’re climbing up stairs into a forgotten attic but once you’re there the space is a pleasant surprise. You see, Seamstress restaurant lives in a 120-year-old building that was once a textile factory and even an old Buddhist monastery. Now it’s a jazzy restaurant that does modern Cantonese food with panache. It’s a pretty sight to behold, and a break from the red and gold Chinatown standards. With bare bricks and light polished wood, this restaurant has a fresh and contemporary atmosphere. Here you’ll find a lunching business crew and curious customers after an elegant dinner. Based on the dishes of China, the menu also makes some detours into the flavours of Asian, and each item has a small medium and large so you can build your own delicious course or share the goodness with friends. Forget raucous Chinese restaurants and getting nudged by yum cha trolleys! Come to Seamstress and make the most of Chinatown’s best kept secret.
Best dish: 12-hour braised Berkshire pork belly, jicama salad and kohlrabi kimchi
