The service is great without being too over-attentive, ambience is gorgeous upstairs with a more moodier vibe than downstairs. Food was great, had the hommous which was delicious with the homemade lavoush bread, zucchini flowers whilst recommended was good but not exceptional, barramundi and cauliflower was tasty. Food is quite rich and could have done with a side of lemon to freshen the meal. Would recommend with a group.
Incredible food and ambiance - all courses were absolutely delicious and we couldn't have asked for a better time. The chicken tagine was especially our favorite
Excellent food and service. Would highly recommend.
We were a party of six having a late dinner at 8.30. Table was ready, drinks served promptly and we dug into out starters - with the mains following when we were ready. Staff were very informative on the wines from the middle east and central Europe- which were very nice- Lebanese Merlot and rose with a nice Croatian Cab Sav. It was a special occasion for us - 100th birthday consisting on 70 for me, 30 for Sophie. Our waiter - seeing us trying to take pics outside the venue rushed down and helped us get a memorable record of our great night out. Well done Sezar - we will be back again. Oh - by the way -the food was fantastic.
Food was exceptional, we only had an hour, and we were able to enjoy a full experience including dessert because the food came out quickly. We were impressed. Staff were excellent too.
Unfortunate as the service and atmoshphere do not match the food!
This place is my all time favourite. Awesome food, great ambience and awesome service.
The food was simply oustanding and service the prompt, informative without being encroaching. While certainly on the more expensive side you have to expect it for an experience like this.
I love this restaurant but I think we hit a rough night. Our meals were consistently served cold. I’ll be back but I’ll wait until the Christmas period is over.
GREAT FOODS AND GREAT SERVICES. GOOD WINE SELECTIONS. HAD A GOOD WINE RECOMMONDATIONS. DESSERTS WERE GOOD. WILL COME BACK SOON TO TASTE OTHER DISHES.
A hidden gem and one of my favourite places to dine. Service is great and great value for money.
You need to be very hungry when you go to Sezar. The Armenian food is wonderfully inventive. You can choose from the main menu or a couple of feed me options and if you don’t ask what is in the options you will be surprised at what comes out. We love this place and it is a great place to bring Friends and out of towners. One of our most favourite places. Highly recommend
A fantastic restaurant with fabulous food. Make sure you have the Hommus and the Baklava. And the gritty laneway location gives it that essential Melbourne feel.
A cool Melbourne city lane way restaurant with delicious food, great service and decent wine list by the glass, ticks all round. I thoroughly enjoyed every dish we had. Their hummus with burnt butter is a game changer. Look forward to going back soon.
Bread not home made, too much tahini in hommus, aircon on too high and one staff member not conciderate about it. Eggplant dish needs more falafel
Great place for something different
Unbelievable deserts (although I've heard before they're good)
I really enjoy dining at Sezar. This is my 3rd visit and I had organised it as I wanted to share with my friends visiting from Singapore and Sydney of such great hidden restaurant. They enjoyed it immensely as do I. The food was delicious and very tasty! Customer Service was amazing. We were looked after very well. Highly recommended for delicious authentic Armenian food.
I’ve been before and I thought it wasn’t quite as good this time
Sezar has been on the list for a while and we finally got here. The first round of tapas were all fantastic. Zucchini flowers filled with creamy cheese, kataifi wrapped lamb, and bastourma and egg brioche (similar to bresaola). The spanner crab manti (dumplings) were divine as was the burrata on slow roasted tomato. We weren’t so keen on the twice cooked chicken wings, and I found the fried cauliflower to be very heavy. We had the dessert tasting plate which included four samples of each of the desserts on their menu. The chocolate cigar was the best of the bunch but none of the desserts really stood out. It was a very good meal and priced accordingly, but next time I’ll stick to a selection from the mezze and michag menus.

A treat from the ancient world
A treat from the ancient world, Sezar Restaurant is slick, suave and here to serve. Nestled in a laneway in Melbourne’s heart, this restaurant boasts sophisticated city vibes and cool exotic charm. The cuisine is Armenian, and here the masterful chefs do an amazing job of updating ancient recipes with fresh modern pizzazz. Sezar really is something else. Come here for a special night out or bring your sweetheart for a date night that’s a little left of centre; you’ll walk away wishing you had never left! The gorgeous dining and bar area is stylish and ultramodern, elegant and arty. The menu is just full of delicious items bursting with Middle Eastern spices. Try their cured ocean trout, dressed with creamy yogurt, roe, apple and fennel, or their two-person slow cooked lamb shoulders – yum. Your meal will be wonderfully complemented by an exciting cocktail or a carefully chosen wine, recommended to you by knowledgeable staff. Sezar will give you an unforgettable night of delicious food and moody ambience. Enjoy!
