Service was so slow. We were waiting at the register for about three minutes when we first arrived - there was no one around to seat us. There were only two other couples in the restaurant it took her 15 minutes to take our order and then 30mins for the food to come out. People who arrived after us were bring served before us. My meal wasn't hot when it came out. My husband ordered goat curry and the gravy was very watery. I would not come back here.

It was a good surprise!!! Turned out to be quite authentic, super tasty and with their special offer it was extremely good value! I would come back and recommend to others feeling like nepalese/indian around newtown.

Food was good especially like the dosai and momo, the only thing is the mains took about 45 mins, consider two in our party only had mains they were waiting all this time. If it was an option we would have preferred it come out asap

Very nice momos. The curries and naan breads are good. The meat is very tender. One wall is completely covered with an awesome photo of the Himalayas! Favourite thing about the restaurant.

Food was great in taste and presentation. You can tell that a lot of attention was spent on the dish. A lot of value for the money.

Fun restaurant, and great value. Food very tasty, but some of the dishes lacked a little of the sparkle they had last time. Not going to stop me going back, as there's so much on the menu I'm still keen to try!

The food took close to an hour to bring out (we were the only table sitting), which was then the wrong dish. They were prioritising UberEats deliveries rather than us. Calculated the bill wrong. Would not dine again.

Food is ok however service was incredibly slow considering we were the only ones in the restaurant. Took 1hr and 15minutes to finally get served all our food- one dish would be served then there would be a 15min wait for the next dish. Eventually got fed up and just asked for our food as takeaway.

Great variety of Nepalese food and all looked so very delicious and tempting. We had the goat curry and the spiced cauliflower. We would have loved to try more - so next time I guess!

About the restaurant

Scale the summit Sherpa Kitchen is a small and well run restaurant in the main street of King Street Newtown. The menu is interesting with variety to suit everyone’s tastes. The starters are delicious and three is enough for a group of four. The portions for the mains are reasonable and offer a choice between hot and mild. The entrees are enjoyable, the stand-outs are the lamb chops, garlic prawns and vegetarian momos. The starters have punters describing them as ‘unreal’, with the chilli meatballs, chilli chicken and ginger chicken so steeped in flavour you’ll have to resist the urge to lick the bowl clean. A fine selection of curries will not disappoint after the formidable starters, like a sensational selection of Roti and potato pancake. For the curries there are a perfect blend of spices to produce an aromatic and delectable fare. And it is even BYO, with some very good wine stores in the vicinity to complement their own excellent wine list. Best dish: fish curry, a slightly salty coconut based sauce with white fish
