Very disappointing. Have been several times previously with good experience so chose this for a friends birthday. Food was only average - overload of pasta and not many prawns. Desert nothing special - pavlova from a supermarket with a bit of fruit and cream. Although full marks to the waitress you gave us 3 so we would not fight over the 2! Service was average - but good not to be hassled.

We have admired Shipwrights for many years- and been multiple times as it’s seafood platters were second to none and we had been so impressed with the freshness of the food- until last night! On arrival we weren’t sure it was open as there was a teenager sitting in the dining room watching something on his phone. This was the first time ever that we had eaten in a top class (price wise) restaurant as the only diners. The waiter was obviously inexperienced and nervous) no blame for that but the food was disgraceful. We started with fresh sourdough bread and garlic butter- the bread was crumbly and though lightly toasted it was close to ice in the middle(not fresh) Oysters were nice- saving grace but the hot seafood platter was over cooked and bland (obviously not fresh). At over 100 each , it tainted our 2nd anniversary.

Have been many times and enjoyed the food and service. Yesterday we took friends for their birthday and was horribly disappointed. First we were told they had run out of lemonade and squash when we went to order drinks! I asked if they had any cocktails and the waitress went to check. Said they could make a frozen lemon and lime Margarita. It came out and was like drinking sea water!! I told the waitress who took it back and she came back with “she thinks she put salt in instead of sugar, both containers have S on them”!!! We ordered The seafood platter for two. The fish was over battered over crispy not much fish in the middle, the prawns were so dry it was as if they were dehydrated and deep fried! The was one Moreton bay bug between us! I have never had such horrible food. The restaurant had only one other couple in it! What has happened to this restaurant??

We had a reservation for 1pm, our orders were taken at 1.45. There was a Mother’s Day set menu, at 1.45 they had already run out of one of the mains. Although there were 5 of us, we only received 4 portions of dessert, we had to ask for the additional portion.

I have visited this place many times and have always enjoyed it,but sadly I won't be hurrying back,we waited a very long time at the door, to be directed to our table, whilst the waiters walked past us several times,as if we were invisible, I had requested a table by the window when I booked,( which we didn't get)then we waited & waited again, for service, finally the waiter took our wine order..only,when it had not arrived after quite some time,I questioned the delay,I was told that the wine was not chilled and the waiter had just put it in the fridge! we should have been told that the wine was not cold when we order it, ordering our food wasn't much better, another long wait, the Restaurant wasn't overly busy, but the service was really appalling.

About Shipwrights on the Marina

Seaside Sailing You don’t have to be sailing aboard a luxury yacht to enjoy a luxurious experience on the water. Nowhere is this more true that at Shipwrights. Right on the water’s edge, every dining table offers a stunning view across tranquil Shipwrights Bay. It’s a lifetime away from the hustle and bustle, and offers a romantic, ambient setting for any occasion. Take a few deep breaths and settle in as you admire the gorgeous views and indulge in a range of fresh modern Australian cuisine. As you’d expect, seafood is the star here. Don’t go past the shared seafood platter: a generous array of smoked salmon, fresh prawns, natural rock oysters and more. For mains, there’s no going past traditional lightly battered flathead and chips, or the baby calamari, served crispy and golden with a spicy Thai style dipping sauce. The menu also features quail, rabbit, beef fillet and other such terrestrial delights to suit all tastes. After your meal, take a few minutes to savour the private terraced garden and of course, the views from the boardwalk. On a beautiful summer day, this dining experience is priceless. Best dish: Shared seafood platter
