Great place to eat. Had the mixed platter, meat was cooked just right. Chips were ordinary but freshly cooked, still tasted nice. Beware of a $3 per head booking fee at the restaurant, which isnt advertised on the fork

The interior felt a little cramped due to the huge games table. The games table is a great idea - although concerning if you need to play games while waiting for food....? The food was yum. I felt a little on the $$ side for what you got. Service was friendly - albeit a little slow, but really warm and friendly.

We went on a particularly busy night so the service was much slower than usual. Would've appreciated more hand on deck on a fully booked out night but I understand the limitations. Other times I've been the service was much faster. Food was still great and we had a good time.

Live music created a great atmosphere and went well with food drinks and company. We went on a slower night which made it not too crowded too. Great night.

Great bbq food and a fun quirky restaurant. Highly recommend the corn bread and brisket. Service was good also. We will definitely return.

Fabulous restaurant for lovers of all things meaty! Food was fantastic but no meal options for any tag along vegetarians ( though chips were amazing!). Great laidback atmosphere and friendly staff, live music made it a little hard on hearing though. All in all our group loved it and will be back for more :)

Live music performer wasn't so great but deserves a second chance.

Great food but the music by local artists is what this place is all about!

Great food in an eclectic set up. Loved the vintage decor and bike set up. Meat was juicy with just enough spice and the deep fried brownie was a surprise hit with us all. Would recommend and am definitely going again.

Don't judge the book by it's cover.... Smokehouse 101 is not a flash venue. The decor is funky, the seating a bit hard and cramped and the dining room is cold (6 out of 7 diners had on their coats). BUT this place is the first in Melbourne that I've found that really gets the flavor of American smokehouse barbecue right (and I lived in the American Southwest for more than 30 years). The pork ribs were well cooked and featured a spicy rub (but I suggest asking that they give you their classic red barbecue sauce instead of the Southern style sauce that is more orange in color). The Moroccan bean salad was excellent (and I don't usually like bean salad). My wife had the chicken and thought it was fabulous. The chips could have been crispier, but over all we were quite happy to have discovered them. We'll definitely be back.
