Really good. Re-booked

A superb environment and excellent and interesting dishes. Strong recommendations to check this place out. Excellent choice of wines to compliment and wash everything down! The bathrooms are on another level of attention to detail. Soundproof and over the top commitment to quality design.

Food was delicious and service was generally good despite from both of us wondering wondering if one of the staff was letting of bouff’s in our general vicinity

Many items were unavailable including the sashimi and cocktails were unavailable. The waiter did not seem to know much about the food. They forgot our main course and there was some confusion. Otherwise friendly and tasty well presented food. We appreciated the desserts and loved their presentation.

shocking service

Absolutely loved it.

They got our first cocktail order wrong, drinks took a long time, they forgot one of our meals completely, large wait for food, no toilet paper in the bathroom. When I raised this with management, no action was taken. Really disappointing as it was my girlfriends birthday.

The service at Sonny Chiba was fantastic and you could tell there was a lot of love put into the food. Thank you for a lovely evening

Great venue and good

Outstanding from the moment we arrived. Service was exceptional, food by far some of the best Sashimi and overall Japanese I've had here in Melbourne. Wine list comprehensive, quite impressive. Really lovely experience. A must try.

Have visited her numerous time but on this occasion was particularly disappointed with the food quality. The dish I always get was extremely salty. Love the decor however it’s very loud for a small venue, all hard surfaces and hard to hear the person next to you. So nice for a date night if you can hear your date!

Food was lovely but quite expensive for small portions

Had an amazing dinner here with friends. The staff were lovely and stepped us through the menu which really helped with a large group. The raw elements and sushi were of exceptional quality. The gyoza were the best I'd ever eaten. The larger dishes were great to share. The Cod was outstanding. Cocktails 10/10. The Blossom and Gimlet were superb. Great dining experience.

We only ordered 3 dishes to share. The beef tataki was delicious, it had a modern twist to it which worked well. The special sushi roll of the day was ok. A bit too much rice in my opinion though the flavor was there. Also it was hard to eat and most of the caviar that was placed on top of the sushi dropped before hitting our mouths. The final dish was the purple hash. Basically 4 pieces of eggplant fries (tempura) on blocks of slightly crispy purple rice with mushroom in a sweet sauce (tasted like teriyaki). It’s interesting but I can’t say it’s outstanding. I think some items on the menu looks good. The restaurant has a sushi bar / counter but the menu doesn’t encourage a full on sashimi and sushi meal. Generally ok but maybe a little lost in concept.

Everything we ordered was delicious! However the fried chicken was a little disappointing in terms of flavour/seasoning. The sauce reminded me of the Big Mac sauce from Mac Donald’s
