We had the chicken wings -yum, the lamb borek - delicious, roasted cauliflower - very tasty, and the fries - crisp and great. The complimentary chickpeas were a nice touch and very very tasty. We are looking forward to going back.
Terrific food - the flavours were delicate, and most importantly, delicious. The decor is trendy and a bit industrial like a cocktail bar, but at times the music was a little loud.
Love love love! Such tasty food and great service with a smile! Highly recommend!
We took advantage of the Fork 50% off deal. It's a really quirky neon lit place down the end of Bligh Alley. Service was excellent (although we were there at 5:15 and there was only one other couple there). The food was fantastic - the cauliflower, whitebait, lamb ribs, and lamb borek were all fantastic - we will be going back for sure.
Souk is a nice place. Staff were nice and very helpful. Food was very nice, flavour was great. Quantity could have been slightly increased for my liking, especially for the price they are charging.
We dined early (pre-concert) and had excellent service. Dishes were really interesting and cooked perfectly. Whitebait and beef croquettes were especially good.
The food was so good my boyfriend didn’t even want to talk because he was loving the food so much!!!!!
We went there on a Friday evening at 6pm. The food is good which is the only positive point with Souk. The service came across as half hearted and unimpressive, with inattentive staff just doing the bare minimum. The environment could’ve been better if it weren’t for the loud music from the bar next door drowning out the restaurant’s own music, and the smell of cigarette smoke entering the restaurant from people standing at the entrance. A lady sat in a corner with 2 laptops on the table seemingly doing work, assuming she’s an employee of the restaurant. Combining these things, the overall experience wasn’t positive.
Nice atmosphere. Great food
We really enjoyed the variety of small plates here. All dishes were tasty. Lots of vegetarian options. The cheese burek was very rich (and very salty). We came early so it was quite quiet.
Really good, the group had a great night
The restaurant's name sounded really great but the atmosphere was dark;music way too too loud like you were in a disco club. I have had asked to turn the music down, it fell on deaf ears. Where is the ambience for dinning where you cannot hear other talk. The drinks and food are over priced for its quality. For example, roasted lamp chops came out fatty more like two small lamb roasted for $37.00. Not enjoyable. It was a good to experience but certainly needed adjustments for memorable event.
One of my favourite places to eat!
We ordered the special that slows the chef to create the menu. It had 2 dips and pickled veggies which counted as part of the courses, there could have better balance
The food and service were excellent, however the noise in the restaurant made it difficult. Great for large groups, not so good if you want to converse.
Hummus was firm, bread wasn't heated well. Lamb cutlets lacked flavor and seasoning even though it had crusted spices. Kibbeh was fine but overpriced.
We arrived at Souk with high expectations. We love Middle Eastern food and their menu looked interesting and the reviews were generally good. Nice vibe to the place, and warm welcome from one of the staff. Our first dish was the lemon and tomato dip with flat bread; fantastic. Next came the fried Brussel sprouts - the waiter had recommended them highly. But they were awful - so overcooked that they were a black/brown burnt mess on the plate, almost totally inedible. Most of the other dishes were OK but nothing special; baked broccoli had a good sauce, but the florets had dried up lots so that they were more like eating a bit of paper; the stems were much better. My partner is vegertarian, so we didn't try any of the meat dishes so can't comment on them.
Definitely worth more than a 7.5... lovely food and great service - be adventurous with your choices, you will enjoy.. not the easiest place to find, but worth the effort - and close to a great cocktail bar for afters...
Great flavours - worth the search... and make sure you stop for a cocktail at Hansome on the way in (or out)...
The meal started off well with a good dip and nice bread and a good glass of red. But it went downhill after that. The fried Brussel sprouts were highly recommended by the waiter. Almost inedible - so overcooked they were just a dark, brittle mess. And most of the rest of the dishes were pretty ordinary. We are vegetarian, so can't say what the meat dishes would have been like.
