When I booked online for the Yacht Club restaurant I assumed I had booked the restaurant upstairs at the Yacht Club. On arrival I found the booking was for the fish cafe downstairs with outside seating (Cold Canberra night). Although they did in the end accommodate us upstairs in a room next to the restaurant the menu was very basic, the order was mixed up and overall experience not that great.
The food was delicious although the menu was smaller than usual. The staff were fabulous. Our server was happy and helpful and we enjoyed our meal immensely. We'll definitely be returning.
We had a lovely time and very accomodating of the children.
The meal was fine, but upon arriving we were shown to another "restaurant" , a marquee set up outside. I was informed i had booked there instead of the upstairs restaurant in the club. However there was nothing about that in the booking confirmation emailed to me earlier which mentioned 'Glass-fronted restaurant with a terrace for Modern Australian dishes with a view of the lake'! So if you want to dine upstairs, don't book online because you need to specify the Lotus restaurant
The food was scrumptious and the service could not have been more pleasant. One guest, difficult to impress was, indeed, impressed - my soup was sensational.
Another outstanding dining experience at the Yacht Club. Excellent staff who were unobtrusive but always taking care of whatever we needed. Great food and even better company. Bin 7 Riesling by the glass, has to be a winner. A destination dining experience at affordable prices with an outstanding view for all patrons.
Great place to eat with a variety of different options with really friendly staff to top it off will definitely be dining with the yacht club again : )
Mains (Pan fried chicken breast (so tender and moist) with mushroom sauce, broccolini and creamy potato) and deserts (lemon meringue pie) were both generous delicious, great service and lovely views over the lake.
Excellent attentive staff and physical setting with a a good range of offerings over three courses. A 2 or 3 course special deal was welcome. We'll be heading back there soon.
Have attended this venue on many occasions and have never been disappointed. I continue to be pleased with the outstanding service provided by the staff of the restaurant. They are a true credit to the Club.
Great food fantastic service, beautiful table overlooking lake Burley Griffin .
Always 100% for service, food, service ,and quality staff attention. The outlook was amazing and all the ladies from the Red Hat Club with their purple ;and red colours made the view even more spectacular.
Meals were great quality, just one fault, 2 of our diners had the mushroom risotto and it was way too salty. Lamb was excellent, perfectly tender.
A very pleasant lunch in nice surroundings with a great view. Would love to see a few more healthy vegetarian options.
We have been to the yacht club quite a few times and have enjoyed the meals except that the last couple of times we have been disappointed as the fish hasn’t been fresh.Given that we tend to go at the end of the week it shouldn’t be too hard to get fresh fish!
The location is perfect, the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The perfect setting for a friends farewell lunch, to enjoy the finer things in life.
Our lovely waitress was very professional. The food was great and they have a great variety of wines and cocktails. One if our favourite dining places. We'll look forward to coming back soon.
We had a lovely quiet corner table with uninterrupted views out to the lake. The waitress and waiter were very obliging and informative. My husband ordered the fish dish and I ordered the Angus Steak which I requested to be well done. The meals arrived and before I tried the steak ate a couple of chips which were only just warm. The waiter who delivered the meals then came back to check how I had ordered the steak and I said "well done". The waiter then removed my meal as the steak which had been delivered was "blue". The waiter returned and said my meal would only be a minute. My husband started his fish as we didn't want his meal to go cold. My second meal came very quickly with a complimentary side salad and the chips were much hotter. The steak was "well done" but had a very liver-like texture and taste to it which I was unable to eat. My husband tried a piece of the steak and agreed with my verdict. We mentioned this to the first waiter who listened and sent someone, maybe the Restaurant Manager, to talk to us. We explained the situation and I was offered an alternative meal. I decided on a small Green Pea Risotto which was brought to our table after about five minutes and was far more palatable although loaded with garlic. My husband ate his fish although he said it was very ordinary and has had much better elsewhere. This was a very disappointing Valentine's Day Lunch.
All ways enjoy going there. Menu could do with changing and desserts are limited. Steak is excellent. Probably one of the nicest views from a restaurant around the lake.
Booked on-line, so easy and request for window table met. Staff very friendly and attentive and the food taste and presentation very good. Beautiful coffee. A most enjoyable outing.
