Good Food. Small Plates however are a bit too small. Main complaint is the price. Wouldn't say it's worth the price being charged.

The service was fantastic. The food was very salty and over-priced.

There was only one very inexperienced waitress on her own for about half an hour between 12.30pm and 1pm (peak lunch time) on a Friday. We ordered only to be told 1 minutes later that they didn't have the snapper because that was last night's menu. After some prompting we found out what the equivalent from today's menu was. Took half an hour to even get our drinks! The experience improved once another couple of wait staff finally appeared, and the food was good. Maybe we were just unlucky, but it seems poor management to leave your customers in the hands of a single inexperienced waitress.

They don’t even care about cleanliness or service so no chance of getting it in this place. We pointed to the staff that the table wasn’t clean and the answer was that it is just sugar that must have fallen out. Then he wiped it with bare hands and then we saw him serve food straight after without even cleaning his hands. We had to remind a few different staff about 5 times for our wine order after waiting for 20 min. The food was average at best. Will never visit again and cannot recommend to anyone, even with a 50% food discount from The Fork.

About Spoonbill Restaurant and Bar

Can I get the spoon please? Bill, I mean. Spoonbill restaurant and bar is a unique Aussie gem that fits right in to the fancy Chapel Street milieu. Spoonbill is about cool concepts and intriguing innovations along with scrumptious Aussie tucker. And it’s very arty. Inspired by home-grown artist John Olsen and designed by the famous Grant Amon Architects, you’ll never have guessed that the stunning interior comprises of used materials. The bar glows white and the dining area is moodily lit by hanging lamps and incredible wicker constructions. Amazing right? And we haven’t even told you about the menu yet! At Spoonbill, you won’t have a single uninformed bite. That’s right, the seasonal menu specifies where your food came from and why it’s great. They do modern Australian favourites like braised pork belly and seared duck breast, the usual Italian tenants like spaghetti and risotto, flavourful numbers to share like ribs, oysters and paella, as well as really nice burgers, sandwiches and fries. You’ve really gotta eat this place – oops! - see this place. Best dish: Olsen’s famous paella – a recipe devised by the artist himself
