The degustation with wine was sensational. Pairing of wines was perfect and the courses thoughtfully balanced. Couldn't have been bettered!

Beautiful restaurant in an old mill on the river. Ambiance was lovely, service exceptional and food simply the best I’ve had in Tasmania yet! Highly recommend the abalone, prawn potstickers and wallaby. Not the cheapest but worth every cent!

Too expensive for what was a nice brunch, but not anything special or outstanding. Other local cafes do as well or better for $10 less per head.

We have been to a lot of wonderful restaurants around Australia and would place this in our top group. Such a wonderful evening - lovely food; sitting in a beautifully renovated flour mill on the Tamar River. Staff were amazing - even provided a little tasting of a local wine when we asked for suggestions on which wineries to visit while in Launceston. Fabulous.

Degustation was an amazing sampling of first rate Tasmanian fresh food. Faultless in presentation, taste and quality.

Excellent meal. We chose to share several small plates. All superb. Best description is that each was a delightful explosion of flavour in the mouth

A wonderful dinner, particularly loved the gin cocktails, beetroot and goats cheese entree and the wagyu cheek

The food was good but not sure why they don’t offer wine by the glass for most of the popular varieties. One of our party wanted to order a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with her lunch and was told by the waitress that that wasn’t possible. When asked why they stocked bottles of Sauvignon Blanc but not glasses she was advised by the waitress that “Sauvignon Blanc is not a wine to have with food” and that it “shouldn’t be drunk before 5pm in the afternoon”. I have to admit in over 30 years of drinking white wine overseas and in all wine regions across I’ve never heard Sauvignon Blanc being described as a wine that shouldn’t accompany food or having to be drunk only in the evening but even if that was true and a view held by the restaurant, then why do they stock bottles of this variety of wine for sale just not by the glass? This response really was unwarranted and spoilt what was otherwise an enjoyable birthday lunch.

Out waiter was attentive, very professional yet friendly - I cannot fault the service - the food was cooked to perfection. I loved the fact it felt very intimate and what a beautiful building.

The setting is lovely, the food and wine superb, but it’s the service and attention to detail that make Stillwater seven stand out. If you combine the restaurant and hotel as an overall experience you will be in for a wonderful evening. Highly recommended.

The wine list if you are buying a bottle is really grand but the by the glass offer is really limited. Service was great. Food delicious and local.

About the restaurant

Local Food, local wine, local talent....

Our food is fresh, grown locally by passionate producers who rely on the attributes of our natural environment. Our State regulations keep the modification out of our genetics, the artificial out of our hormones and the free in our ranging animals. We know grass fed, antibiotic free, natural,

happy animals make better meat....even if they aren’t ‘super sized’. Our water is clean, sourced from Cape Grim on Tasmania’s North West Coast, home of the cleanest air on the planet. Our wines flow from around the State but being located in the Tamar Valley means Stillwater is a cornerstone for the local vignerons hosting a list that showcases the highly respected local tipples.
