About Supernormal

Anything but normal Andrew McConnell is at it again. Just when you think this chef and restaurateur extraordinaire can't get any better he opens Supernormal - a slick, understated space in Flinders Lane that just has ‘it’. 'It' being that extra special something that makes you go wow - this is genius. Design wise the fit-out is flooded with Japanese influence but the menu effortlessly dances between Japanese, Chinese and Korean flavours. On the menu you’ll find things like dumplings, bao, steamed pork buns, white cut chicken with sesame, wombok and chilli oil and interesting desserts such as plum and green tea soft serve. Creating a real worldly experience are the playful little touches scattered around the room like the Japanese snack vending machines, vibrant neon signs and the basement karaoke room. Leave Melbourne for one night and take a trip to Japan with a visit to Supernormal. It’s an experience that’s super, but far from normal. Best dish: steamed pork buns
