A table at Tabella... Tabella. It’s ‘table’ in Italian. Cute huh? We think so. And this Italian restaurant in Freemantle is cute as a button. Restaurant owners, Tanya and Enzo Antonelli are both passionate about good food and wine, and are eager to make their restaurant the very best - there’s no sign of complacency here. What’s more, these two food fanatics are hands on at Tabella, with Enzo involved in the prep and cooking of the food and Tanya working the floor. The food is classic Italian, with everything kept simple and fresh. Don’t be alarmed by the lack of wine list, this is intentional and certainly doesn’t mean you can’t get a good drop to go with your meal. (Phew!) The blackboard lists a selection of excellent wines available by the glass, with the intention to let customers be flexible and try different things. There’s no doubt about it, Tabella offers Freemantle foodies a great night out that’s suitable for the whole family. (Butcher’s paper lines the tables and drawing is not frowned upon....see what we mean - it’s classic, old school Italian!) Best dish: Gnocchi al Ragu: homemade dumplings with shredded, slow cooked beef, freshly grated parmesan and a side serve of special chilli sauce offered as an optional extra.
