This restaurant has improved every time we have visited, particularly in service & table setting. The food has always been excellent and continues to be some of the most delicious Asian food in Canberra.

The food was fantastic. We had a Cudo voucher and every plate was really tasty - particularly the S&P silken tofu, the crunchy prawns, duck pancakes and beef fillet. The only downside was the place was extremely dark; we asked to sit by the only window. The décor was in keeping with the dark theme but if they could get permission for outside tables that would have been excellent.

Great Duck Panckes

A friend and I had dinner here last night. I arrived first and was surprised at how busy and crowded the restaurant was. Despite having a booking, they didn’t have a table ready and eventually I was placed directly in front of the main door, where lots of foot traffic and cold winds were coming through. Thankfully they had another table at the back but it had its drawbacks too (more on that later). I had to ask for water and they took away the drinks menu before my friend arrived to give to another table but never brought it back. We ordered Peking duck pancakes and crispy pork for entrees, with 3 cup chicken and chilli eggplant for mains. We were told the kitchen was very busy and our dishes would just come out whenever they were ready, which was fine with us. When we finally got our food, all dishes were excellent in taste and quality, if not a bit small in portion size for the high price. The pork was the highlight in our minds. Strangely, the Peking duck came out 3rd and after about 40 minutes, for a dish that probably didn’t need to be cooked but only plated. By the time we’d finished the first 3 dishes and the rice, the eggplant had still not arrived so we asked the waitress. After a few minutes, we cancelled that and ordered a dessert instead. The manager said that was fine. But a few minutes later he brought the eggplant dish anyway and said it was free, so that made up for it. But when we went to pay, the manager hadn’t told the other staff so we had to correct it. We weren’t the only ones to experience the poor slow service. We heard one guy who came from the upstairs area to ask for water, and then come down again later to get the water and glasses. The table next to us waited 45 minutes for their drinks before asking and finally receiving. Several times the wait staff dropped dishes and cutlery on the floor as they were hurrying around. And the boppy music didn’t add to the ambience of what I’d thought was a high end restaurant (based on the price). The cash register was directly behind my seat and it was very distracting and intrusive for customers to stand beside me to pay their bill. They definitely need to re-design the layout. For a pricey high end menu, I’d expected a much more relaxing environment. Sadly, tables were crammed into a high density space with little room and no privacy. Unless they drastically rethink their business model, I won’t go back as the great food didn’t make up for the rest of the disappointing experience.

Great authentic Chinese food

dined on Sun, 9 Jun 2019

We were seated quickly, but it took a while for our order to be taken. Maybe some new staff? We order the banquet, but was told the need to swap out on of the entrees for another dish which suited us. Then during the meal, a main was also swapped out... then the owner(?) came to confirm that the original dish was now available and our main selection would be swapped out for the entree swap... sound confusing? It was. Staff didn’t talk to each other, kitchen seemed to cook what it wanted; felt like we were being pressed to cheaper/available dishes. We opted for the banquets because it was supposed to be easy, it wasn’t. They didn’t accept multiple entertainment books - which I’m sure is against the rules. We were given $10 discount vouchers fir the future, which we will not use.

I really enjoyed the food here. The service was also good.

The food was great and my friend and I should have listened to the hostess as the portion sizes were big to the point of us having to take a few doggy bags home with us.
