The food and service were fantastic. Our waiter went out of his way to nake our experience something specual. The bill was appropriately quite karge. That’s why everything is so good. Definitely a once of experience.

Service was good and still on point but serving size and quantity is not what it used to be. Signature trout confit is still amazing!
Tetsuya's was an enjoyable experience. The dishes are all prepared exceptionally, and the staff are all professional. The only small gripe is that the venue may feel a bit cosy and noisy, because they are always busy.
Tetsuya still sets the benchmark in fine dining for me. As soon as you walk through the gate and see the subtly lit, elegant Japanese building; a surprising oasis in the bustle of unassuming CBD Kent St, you know something special awaits. It has been over ten years since I last came here and I had forgotten the initial impact of this zen like building which so pleasingly greets the eye. The relaxed, welcoming atmosphere ,the impeccable and attentive service crowned with food which manages to be both subtle and elegant not to mention downright delicious makes for a perfect dining experience. I am immediately wowed by the whipped truffle butter and bread. The plump and well dressed oysters were delectable, the scampi awe-inspiring , all the fish courses were beautifully balanced with quality and technical dexterity evident on the plate. The wagyu beef was perfectly caramelised and accented by a pumpkin purée the lightness of which I've never seen. The refreshing apple sorbet and jelly was a divine palate cleanser and the airiest macaroons finished off a tantalising degustation menu which did not leave you hungry like some others. The only reason not all the scores were 10/10 is because I was a little disappointed in the signature dish which has been my gold standard ever since I tried it first at their Rozelle site many years ago. The konbu crust on the ocean trout used to be thicker and had more crunch and texture, which provided beautiful contrast to the melt in the mouth ocean trout. It is still an amazing dish but the thinner crust does not have the same mouthfeel and means that I could taste the seasoning whereas before it was simply a complex harmony of flavours which hit the tongue and you had no idea where the umami flavour originated. It is probably nit-picking but perhaps (unfairly) there are so many expectations that comes with such an iconic dish which has defied time. Lastly, the whole degustation menu lasted three hours which on a work weeknight was just a tad too long for me - other than that an overall amazing dining experience which I would highly recommend.
This was a very special occasion and we were so pleased that we went. The 6 of us had a terrific 5 hours. One of the group said after the meal that their mouth was so happy! All the dishes were delicious, but everybody loved the Spanner Crab, Ocean Trout and Tetsuya's Chocolate Cake. Just looking for another special occasion to go back.
Excellent service. Definitely one of the best even among restaurants in the same price range. Staff was very polite, attentive, and professional, yet unpretentious. Food is exquisite and menu is creative.

A stalwart of Sydney’s luxury dining scene marries the Japanese philosophy of natural seasonal flavours with French cooking techniques, equating to an incredible set degustation menu. Whipping up the decadent dishes in the kitchen is ‘rock star’ chef Tetsuya Wakuda, who has had plenty of hits in his time - but his degustation might just take the cake. Don’t be disappointed at the lack of ‘vibeyness’ here, as the consulate-style dining rooms evoke functionality more than razzle dazzle sparkle and fun, the impressive wine and sake, and beautiful Japanese dishes such as confit ocean trout (one of Australia’s best longstanding dishes) compensates in full.
