Meet the Chef

Chef Nick Stapleton is primarily inspired by Vietnamese cuisine but also draws on traditional French techniques. Growing up with a mother who had her own restaurant, Nick learnt to love simple cooking that respected the ingredients; pasta, roast chicken, slow-cooked pork shoulder. Now an acclaimed chef with several awards under his hat, Nick has brought his creative vision to an impressive roll call of kitchens including the London Club, , Survey Co, Gordita and Ginger’s Diner.

    Such a lovely spot in the leafy suburb of New Farm. A beautiful old Queenslander converted into a boutique hotel with this wonderful restaurant. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the menu is wonderful. Highly recommended

    Below the standard and pleasure of past visits: the pork main course was over cooked and stringy, the rice "side" never eventuated. The two entrees were very pleasant though. Very slow service.

    We had the 3 course tasting menu, but for us thought there were one or two too many vegetarian courses. Also not being a great fan of kale, having it served with two of the courses was not too our liking. The absence of beef in any course was surprising as was two pork dishes being provided. The scallops with chicken butter sauce and the panacotta were absolutely fantastic. The service was outstanding.

    We chose the 2 course dinner at $85 each. The selection of small plates was extensive and reasonable value although two of the dishes were lacking flavour. The selection of large plates was really disappointing. One large plate serving was a skinny bit of roast pumpkin and three tiny cubes of tempeh - the other was at least a reasonable sized duck dish. The other 3 dishes were all off the sides menu including a bowl of steamed rice! Value for money was extremely poor. It also seemed strange that our waiter for the night seemed to clock off work before the mains and no-one was designated to finish the task.

    Wasn’t clear on the website that the two course meal was actually everything on the menu in small bits, would have preferred to be able to order a starter and a main or main and dessert.
