Meet the Chef

Award winning chef Colin Barker, has been with The Boathouse for over 12 years. Early in his career, Colin worked with Liam Tomlin at Banc before winning the NSW Lexus Young Chef of the Year Award in 2005. He then spent time in the UK as Senior Chef de Partie under Brett Grahame at The Ledbury, a Michelin Star restaurant in London. A keen fisherman, Colin has a passion for sustainable seafood and enjoys preparing unusual species of fish in unique combinations with seasonal ingredients.

    What an experience!! The food was amazing, the entree prawns were to die for( we ordered second serving). For the mains we had the Snapper pie and it was...delicious. The souffle was a great way to end the night. Great service and recommendations.

    We’ve dined here for dinner before, this time we came back for lunch and we absolutely loved it. The view was great and this has to be some of the best seafood in Sydney.

    Excellent service, food and relaxing atmosphere. Not to mention the 180 degree water view. Would be even better to have high chairs available but it didn’t bother me personally.

    First time at the restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. Fantastic service all night, and every single dish was spectacular, it is hard to pick a favourite. Perfectly cooked seafood. We will definitely be back.

    Serving fresh seafood and quality dishes in generous portion. Staff are welcoming, attentive but not overly intrusive. Could’ve been better with more space between table as I overheard their conversation. Otherwise an excellent night.

    Boathouse is a crackerjack place. Oysters sublime. Fish truly excellent. Wine list very good. Staff not very attentive but ok. A great place to celebrate important milestones. Very expensive.

    We have been coming to the Boathouse for more than 15 years - it's one of our favourite restaurants for special occasions. The food is always well presented and perfectly cooked; had the pan-fried Spanish mackerel last visit, and it was delicious. Meals accompanied by nice bread, which I think they make in-house, and a good selection of wines. A beautiful location on Blackwattle Bay, with a view over the water to the Anzac Bridge. Polite and friendly waitstaff, always ready with a good suggestion from the menu or wine list when you can't decide which looks best. I need to start finding more special occasions so we can come back more often.

    Our favourite local seafood restaurant. If you have not tried their snapper pie, you have not lived. Every year we go there for the anniversary of our engagement, and it never fails to satisfy.

    Amazingly delicious food, beautiful views and incredible service. Salt and pepper mud crab, fish pie and entre prawns were exceptional stand outs. We had a wonderful evening celebrating a birthday. Staff were extremely attentive but unobtrusive. Highly recommend.

    Have been before and very happy. Invited 4 friends this time which have never been before and we were very underwhelmed. We were seated in a corner and forgotten for long periods of time. Our first drink order was delivered more than an hour after our arrival

    Lovely dinner with beautiful views. Personally, I would prefer different types of seafood instead of mainly fish, it would nice to have more varieties of seafood.
