Great service. Sireesha who served me was very very good. Chicken pakora was awesome. Love this place. Curry and naan are the best too. I also had kingfisher beer

SUCH GOOD FOOD.. OMG skip the entrees and focus on the mains.. their curries are just divine, so tasty and just so delicious. The Chardonnay on it's own wasn't great but when paired with the food was perfect. Can't wait to go back!

The restaurant is dingy with extremely uncomfortable seating. Menu is way too long. Food that we ordered was seeks kabab, goat curry, plain rice and garlic nan. The best was plain rice, perhaps because chef did not have to apply any brain to cook it. The goat curry had no salt, and the waitress instead of being apologetic offered salt to sprinkle... wow!! Garlic nan was like a rubbery stale bread. And seekh kabab was hard, but at least had salt. I should have understood and gauged the quality by looking at the no. Of people sitting in the restaurant, just 2. Overall, it’s a disaster and an utter shock how are they surviving in such a posh location.. dooms day is near, if they don’t take the feedback seriously and look into the food quality.

Best British Indian taste in Sydney with great service. Spicy butter chicken is phenomenal! Very friendly. Air con a little cold but if that is my only issue it is an amazing meal!!

Great curry and naan. Good service. Enjoyed 50% off. Atmosphere was good, but bit too close to the next table. Disappointed with dessert serving size.

Service was good. NaN bread was very good. The rest dishes are just as normal as Indian food in other restaurants. Without discount special, prices of the food appear a bit high.

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere ! Food was good and dessert was nice . But the quantity was a bit small so discounted price is ok but not when paying full price. Location is good with parking right outside or near Woolworth.

The food was excellent, all dishes we had were very tasty. The service was not very attentive and we had to seek for attention. However I would certainly go back for a nice meal.

Ordered for the Chicken Madras (Spicy) and Lamb Biryani (Mild). Both the dishes were not only yum but delicious. Thanks to TheFork deal of 50% off, it made it even more worthwhile. Great ambience and loved the Instrumentals of Hindi classic songs played.

A lovely place for dinner in neutral bay. Service lovely, all staff were friendly. Particularly enjoyed the rice, malai kofta and fish curry. Table layout was good for couples.

Complete with British flags, this is a delightful restaurant. We particularly enjoyed the Butter Chicken and cheesy naans. The staff were polite and helpful.

It was ok. I have been to a lot of restaurants during the fork promotion. I felt like this restaurant didn’t do anything great. Portions were average size. Average taste. Service was ok. Nothing standout. Definitely not worth the full price in my opinion. Mood was very metro crowd. Probably wouldn’t revisit.

About the restaurant

British-Indian Brilliance

The Colonial offers a new kind of dining experience, introducing diners to the flavours of a long forgotten cuisine in India’s North-West Frontier Province. Colonial's interior is ultra-chic - a far cry from your usual Indian take-away and the menu too offers a delicious departure from the ordinary. The cuisine uses a simplistic style of preparation, where chunks of meat, seafood and veg are marinated and cooked in a Clay Tandoor at a high temp. This means they remain succulent and deliciously tender. The rusticness of this fare and the focus of preserving flavour is the highlight of this cuisine. The Colonial revives the age old cuisine and cooking style to bring you an experience which is a feast for the stomach and the soul.

Best Dish: railway goat curry
