Very pricey for the location Had to request new toast for the starter as char-grilled had slipped over to burnt toast. - Presented so burnt side was down. The advised by staff this is the way it was meant to be but they would 'accommodate' me. Ruin the evening being made to feel stupid for not wanting to eat burnt toast.

I had a divine feed at the Cottage with my family and would recommend others to go there as the service was marvellous. The employees were very happy and I felt welcomed and always smiling. It was a great atmosphere to be a part of!

About The Cottage Scone

With it’s grand proportions and old fashioned character No. 196 Kelly Street has been home to many things over the years. Built in the 1860’s and now lovingly restored by Sydney businessman and local land owner Michael Crouch and his wife Shanny,The Cottage is now home to the Upper Hunter’s newest restaurant. The Cottage offers dining Tuesday – Saturday evenings and Thursday – Saturday lunch, is fully licenced and with a versatile layout it can also cater for events from intimate dinners to larger gatherings. The menu is rich with exciting dishes; each of which showcases local produce and allows every ingredient to speak for itself. The Hanging Rock smoked trout is simply delicious, and the crisp master stock pork belly is just out of this world. There’s also a delicious 500g t-bone steak and some sensational desserts - think salted caramel ice cream & dark chocolate sorbet, bombe. Go on, escape to The Cottage! Best dish: tea smoked and slow cooked duck, with tamarind and mulberries.
