Great service, very delicious food. Too many lights on, no ambience.

Had been to The Cuban Place before 2 years back on a quieter evening. Great food and service. The present one was on last Friday, busy evening many waiters but very poor and not attentive service. The fried tortilla for overdone; linguine over cooked and became like mashed potatoes. Overall, bland food with no flavour. The chicken breast dish with yellow rice was well cooked but bland. Mojitos were excellent though. Won’t recommend to anyone till they fix service and food quality. Sorry, was really disappointed for a joint with such a great ambience.

Not Cuban at all!!! The mojitos did not have any alcohol on them, so it was basically, sugar, mint and ice, I had 5 and should have been at least tipsy, but nothing. In Cuba that does not happen at all!!! Also, the music is Puerto Rican and Merengue, not salsa from Cuba or son/charanga Cubana either. I was expecting a Cuban experience but got very disappointed seeing that they claim to be Cuban but are nothing of what Cuba is (music, drinks, ambience, etc). Also, we had a table for 9 and the waitress got confused and was trying to charge us for 4 mojitos, we were very worried and concerned but we knew it wasn't any of us who drank them, she was very upset too and made us feel really bad about it, my husband felt really bad and thought they would charge the waitress for them so went to talk to the hostess to pay for some drinks we NEVER HAD, and then the hostess said, "oh no, we found the people, no worries" - the waitress never told us and it literally stopped us from maybe have any fun if possible (when listening to the live band play MERENGUE!!!)!! I will never go back nor recommend this to anyone. The only good thing about the place was the food, my compliments to the chef!

First time going to the Cuban Place after watching a film called the Chef on Netflix, where one scene was in a Cuban restaurant with a live band and I loved it so went looking for one in Sydney. Easy online booking and availability of menu to view was superb. When we arrived (late due to traffic issues) the band was playing and it had a great buzz about the place. Walked up to the restaurant area and waited to be seated. We were greeted by a young lady with a broad Liverpool accent who was so accommodating and showed us to our table. As we had already viewed the menu online we knew what we wanted and ordered starter, main, desert and drinks all in 1 go. The food, atmosphere, service and live music was superb and I will definitely be returning in the near future (after a few salsa lessons..lol) and would recommend this to friends, family and anyone I talk to.

1. I wanted to change my booking to change the number of people. So I called the number given, at three different times, but no one answered the phone. Eventually left a message with my change requirement. No one called back. Then I sent and email with my requirement, but no one responded or acknowledged my email. 2. Food was fantastic 3. But we felt we were rushed at the end to vacate the table although there were few other empty tables and there were no one lining up for a table. Strange!

Although the food was very tastey, the portion sizes were not what I expected for the price (portion sizes have halved from the last time I was there!). They were tiny and we ended up going out for a second cheaper dinner, even though we ordered at least 2 full meals per person.
