A great restaurant to dine at before theatre/opera/ballet. They offer a 2 course menu for $49 or one can choose a la carte. Good value! Food is always amazing. The salmon & the chicken breast cooked superbly. I was a little disappointed on this occasion with the chocolate fondant as it was cool inside. Unfortunately we didn't have time for it to be corrected. Nonetheless we shall return. thanks
Inattentive service, bland food, very old ambience
It was my husband's birthday and we were a group of 8 eating there. Service was not impressive: dessert came without the cutlery and it took some minutes for the waitress to bring the forks in however the ice cream had started melting; some of the desserts and dessert wine we ordered were not available which was shocking as the restaurant was not a big one; we were not served with menu and wine menu until we had seated for 10 minutes. Food was above average.
Food excellent and the pre theatre package is great value for money. The atmosphere is quiet and sophisticated.
Dinner before our show at the Opera House. Good location. Food was lovely. Decent size portions, fresh and tasty.
Came here for pre-theatre. The food and the atmosphere is lovely. Service is great too. Main challenge is time! We had a two course meal from 5:30pm and we were late to the 7pm Opera :( (and we were the first in the resto). They should start at 5pm or have a much speedier service during these hours so customers can enjoy even the 3 course meal without having to rush.
Parking is expensive & best only for small cars. Nevertheless, you won’t regret your visit.
Hated seeing the fee for payment with Visa card on the bill
Lovely comfy chairs Cosy But food was nothing special Especially the deserts were very lacklustre A bit like something bought at a supermarket Need a good patissier urgently!
The location is great with a pleasant ambiance in a historic character buiding. The menu was interesting with limited gluten free options. The service was slow and there was a lack of communication between staff, with staff doubling up on taking orders. A great venue, but service not at its best.
We booked “The Governor’s Room” for a a birthday. We had a wonderful “Christmas-in-July” menu of three courses. The turkey was beautifully tender and the Christmas pudding and brandy custard absolutely divine! We had personal service from lovely staff who joined our fun and we had an absolute ball. Great night!
Nice relax to dinning in the hotel so we don’t need to go out in the cold night. Friendly staffs
The pretheatre menu was a bit disappointing with having over cooked salmon and chicken mains.
Good atmosphere both at the Highland bar area , good pre-dinner met area , and dining relaxed and not crowded. "Old world cham" , friendly staff
Excellent meal. Value for money. $49 for 2 courses. Great for a pre theatre meal. Great that dining is available from 5.30 which enables dinner to be eaten at a leisurely pace & get to theatre for 7.30 start Thanks
This hotel has an amazing atmosphere, takes you back 100 years. The service is slow but friendly. The food was value for money.
Elegant setting
It was an enjoyable dining experience. Thanks.
Perfect for pre theatre. Service prompt and refined. As soon as you step inside the restaurant you leave the hustle and bustle of Friday night Sydney behind.
Atmosphere nice, music very relaxing. Service staff pleasant but considering few guests, had to wait for bill and then fix mistakes. Food fairly tasteless.... Barramundi was bland, green sauce overtook the already watery fish and the fennel salad lacked the acidity needed for balance. Bread rolls while hot tasted like supermarket heatups.
