6/10Wine selection a little lacking & bar staff not that knowledgeable on what wine was available. Also disappointing that there are no sparkling wine glasses. Sparkling wine in a wine glass just doesn’t cut it. But food pretty good & table wait staff efficient. Nice atmosphere.

2/10Made booking for 8:30 and when I arrived they advised that the venue was closing. Why take the booking if the restaurant was closing at the time of booking?

8.5/10The front desk lady was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was great and our meals were lovely. The crowd on that evening was very loud but we have no control of that. Would most definitely be back again.

4.5/10Terrible from the get go. Long standing patron of the dolphin and the service on this occasion was terrible. A two hour booking seems standard with the Covid rules. At the 65 minute mark we’re told another larger booking is coming in so you’ll have to finish. Having only just finished the meal. At the 90 minute mark the same thing. Seems that the service on this occasion was the worst I have had here. Plenty of other venues in Surry hills that won’t rush paying costumers having spent upwards of $450 on food and drinks it seems that the dolphin is trying to move people on as soon as they have eaten......

5/10Whilst the food was ok, the air-conditioning on a very hot day was dreadful making the experience very uncomfortable. We left and went to The Clock where the air conditioning worked just fine.

7/10We have been to the Dolphin on many occasions, and whilst the vibe of the place is still fun and enjoyable, the food and service have changed. I have always enjoyed the pork schnitzel which used to come on the bone.. except this time is did not and the salad was more parsley than cabbage oddly. flavour was nice but not as good as it used to be. the heirloom tomato salad was a standout though and we loved it, as was the prawn pasta. The service was average at best.. it felt like a lot of new staff who had not been trained and had no answers to the few questions we had about the menu, wine etc. Shame as we used to love this place

8.5/10Friendly and professional service. Food and drinks were well prepared consistent with an upmarket pub atmosphere. Had a nice vibe to it and relaxed atmosphere. I'd go again!

5.5/10The welcome staff and bar staff were rude. Entrees and main meals arrived at the same time; when we asked why, we were dismissed. As a regular patron of The Dolphin, it was really disappointing. Your staff are awful.

Making a splash.
This Surry Hills institution has undergone a complete makeover and interior designer George Livissianis has gone all white errthang. It's a real art installation with crumpled white linen on the exposed brick walls. Walk through the three distinct spaces - the Dining Room, Wine Room and Public Bar with open-air terrace.
Open for lunch and dinner 7 days, The Dolphin is a great spot to catch up with friends. The Modern Italian/Australian menu offers a Salumi cabinet and authentic pizzas such as the marina with no cheese. While the wine and beer list, created by James Hird, is extensive.
Well, why are you still here? Get some friends together and head to The Dolphin now!
