This was our first time at The Duck Inn and we absolutely loved it! My crispy skin trout was cook to perfection which i like rare. The skin was super crispy. The seasonal veggies were perfectly cooked as well. My hubby had beef cheeks. It was delicious. The cheeks were soft and melted in the mouse and the source was beautiful and rich. Duck spring rolls were really tasty as well. Loved it! Will be back for sure.

Not sure if the Duck Inn was having a bad day or if we were just unlucky?! Atmosphere when you walk in is great and perfect for a Sunday afternoon however the positives stop there. Ordering Sunday lunch was painful - twice orders were placed only to be told the options were unavailable by waiting staff who seemed incredibly disinterested. Eventually, 5 of us settled on Sunday roast and 1 of us on a classic main. The main arrived a good 10 minutes after the 5 roasts with no apology in sight, sides that were ordered arrived even later than that and had to be returned. Not one of us finished our Sunday roasts finding the meat inedible. We were all incredibly disappointed. One redeeming feature was the art feature and the waitress that chatted to us about it....?! We will definitely not be recommending the Duck Inn or returning which is a shame because we had heard great things!

On one side of The Duck is the charming, cosy bar area, and on the other side is the restaurant that has a good buzz when a few tables are full. Our group of 10 ordered a lot of different items, a mix of snacks and main meals, with a few highlights (lamb shoulder, duck schnitzel, cauliflower starter) and a couple of disappointing dishes (fish tacos tasted like soap, and the size of pannacotta was stingy). Service staff were polite and energetic, but it took ages for meals to reach us, and there was a lot of confusion about what was meant for us. We almost received starters twice over.

About The Duck Inn

Home Sweet Home An inner city pub with timber tables, quiet outdoor seating with umbrellas, craft beer on tap, comfy lounge chairs, book cases and nary a poker machine in sight? Welcome to The Duck Inn Pub & Kitchen. A local favourite, the Duck likes to shake things up with its succession of ‘nights’ including, Happy Hour Tuesdays to Saturday from 5pm till 7pm, Tuesday Night Trivia and Sunday roast special, available every Sunday until sold out. Kind of like going to the cosy home of a friend with better cooking skills than you and a well-stocked bar. In terms of the menu, there are plenty of pub favourites such as salt and pepper calamari – but it comes with smoked chilli aioli, and mustard-dressed salad leaves. Ditto the traditional bangers and mash which features Blackforest Smokehouse Cumberland sausages and creamy mash with onion jam and jus. Definitely a cut above your average pub fodder.
