Service pre-theatre was really slow. We got there two hours before our show, ordered fairly quickly and waited about an hour fir the food. Generous food portions and reasonable quality. If I went there again before a show, I’d keep checking that it will arrive in time to eat without causing indigestion!

OK food and reasonably good value, especially if you are there for happy hour and the $5 beers and wines suit your palate.

Very disappointed in the food offering, only a limited pretreatment menu (assumed all patrons going to the theatre). This place used to serve excellent pub food, but has really gone down hill. Very disappointing as this is a pub with great staff and great atmosphere

Great pre-theatre option when attending the Seymour - but also a lovely space to have a drink and/or dinner with friends.

The service is slow here, but the food is worth it. You just have to keep on top of them:)

this is the second time to this restaurant. the first had the slowest service in history, this time was not much better. The new pre theatre limited menu is a joke, the service is even worse. The full menu looks interesting but they refused to offer it 2 hours pre theatre. The food that was served was average. Very very ordinary and suggest you can find better near to seymour centre when needed

Service was slow. Wondered if they were prepared for so many pre-theatre patrons.

A lovely venue and a good meal. Just be aware of a limited set choice pre theatre, The booking info didn’t tell us that.

Great for a quick and tasty pre-theatre dinner. Just across the road from the Seymour centre

Not been for 5 years but a great pub with very good food and selection of drinks - craft beers and wine.

Very happy with my meal. A little expensive but we did order 2 bottles wine between 3 people. Food was excellent and great service

We had a lovely family lunch for my husbands birthday. The little ones were free to run around the courtyard without bothering others and my daughters little dog was welcome. Love the Duck Inn!

On one side of The Duck is the charming, cosy bar area, and on the other side is the restaurant that has a good buzz when a few tables are full. Our group of 10 ordered a lot of different items, a mix of snacks and main meals, with a few highlights (lamb shoulder, duck schnitzel, cauliflower starter) and a couple of disappointing dishes (fish tacos tasted like soap, and the size of pannacotta was stingy). Service staff were polite and energetic, but it took ages for meals to reach us, and there was a lot of confusion about what was meant for us. We almost received starters twice over.

About the restaurant

Home Sweet Home An inner city pub with timber tables, quiet outdoor seating with umbrellas, craft beer on tap, comfy lounge chairs, book cases and nary a poker machine in sight?

Welcome to The Duck Inn Pub & Kitchen. A local favourite, the Duck likes to shake things up with its succession of ‘nights’ including, Happy Hour Tuesdays to Saturday from 5pm till 7pm, Tuesday Night Trivia and Sunday roast special, available every Sunday until sold out.

Kind of like going to the cosy home of a friend with better cooking skills than you and a well-stocked bar. In terms of the menu, there are plenty of pub favourites such as salt and pepper calamari – but it comes with smoked chilli aioli, and mustard-dressed salad leaves. Ditto the traditional bangers and mash which features Blackforest Smokehouse Cumberland sausages and creamy mash with onion jam and jus. Definitely a cut above your average pub fodder.
