Unique little restaurant and bar with an English theme. Great gin menu and quirky English food on offer. Service is fantastic. It’s rapidly becoming my new local.

Great place for work lunch - the dumplings & mushroom aranchini were great as usual, however the lamb burger was average. We mainly came for the mushroom jaffles, but they bad been discontinued (still showed on the menu within the fork app at the time of booking).

The food we got was great and the wine list was really awesome. The staff were very friendly and helpful. At first, the food took a while to come out, but was delicious when it arrived.

Staff weren't attentive, I had to ask for a menu after sitting for 10 minutes. No one came around to take orders and did not look our way at all, I had to wave my hand multiple times to get their attention. And we were sitting just above the steps in the view of the bar where they stood. On to the food, we ordered just about everything on the menu, nothing really exciting. We were surprised the dumplings tasted quite nice. Honestly, there is alot of potential here, great affordable selection of wines and spirits. A nice spot to go after work for a chat and some nibbles. But this place needs to hire people who care about what they do and not just be there, get paid and leave.

The food was good and a cute little place with a cosy looking bar area downstairs. The service was patchy with long periods of times sitting with empty drinks without anyone coming by.

They have delicious dumplings and pies on offer, so if you fancy grab a meal after work without breaking the bank it's a good spot. The downside is the kitchen closes super early 8.30 pm. Drinks are also good, but a little bit on the price side! In general is a great little venue, super easy to get t0. Really close to wynyard station.

Great dumplings, they were delicious and great to order in big groups of people, we really enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere.

About the restaurant

The Fox Hole is a two-level bar in the heart of Sydney's CBD, just a short stroll from Wynyard station. Inspired by a bar you may find in London, you can enter the front door on the corner of Kent and Erskine Streets, or directly into the Cellar Bar via Kent Street and forget the world outside.

THE CONSERVATORY BAR – GROUND LEVEL

Light, bright and airy, our Conservatory Bar on ground level plays host to The Fox Hole's cafe in the morning and is a great place for lunch, after work drinks and dinner in the afternoon and evenings. You'll find delicious cocktails and more than 50 gins from all over the world.

THE CELLAR BAR – UNDERGROUND

Convict brickwork and exposed timber beams set the scene for a 19th century cellar converted into our favourite place to dine, drink wine and whisky any time of the day or night. Our bartenders can guide you through more than 20 wines by the glass and a dozen different Whiskies.

Must try dish: Scotch egg with truffle mayonnaise
