Great pub with a great restaurant... The menu isn't your bog standard pub food it's very tasty, reasonable priced and varied ......Oh and they actually have full table service. What a novelty not to have to do half the work yourself - Very civilised!

Always enjoy coming here. A nice dining area and great steaks. Wine list didn’t seem as comprehensive as previously?

We decided to go to the Glebe Hotel for lunch to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere and the menu had a good selection of pub food. I would recommend this place and we will definitely go again.

I cannot believe I've lived close to this little gem for so many years and only just eaten there. It's has such a lovely old world feel, staff are so friendly and the food was fantastic. Was packed for Saturday lunch so suggest you book but would highly recommend it for a couple or a group. I'll definately be back

Great high-standard local. At our last visit for lunch we were impressed by the service and food quality. Covid precautions were s a little below what is now the norm. Clearly will return.

We live in Erskineville but we consider this pub and restaurant as our local! Welcoming staff, quality well priced meals in a warm atmosphere. Social distancing was good and adhered to too!

The food is amazing and the staff are lovely. Highly recommend their Sunday Roast special. Portion was huge, but so good you don’t want to leave any behind.

Great neighbourhood gem. Warm & welcoming. Very good food at reasonable prices. Happy the original slow combustion fire survived the renovation - it's an added bonus on a cold night.

While our food was good, when it finally arrived (cold), I feel The Glebe Hotel wasn’t really quite ready to receive as many diners as were booked. Having said that, I’d be happy to return and have a leisurely lunch or dinner at another time, once the RE-opening dust settles. Good selection of wines by the glass and a varied menu makes this a great neighborhood dinning destination.

Lovely atmosphere on a rainy Sunday night sitting beside the fire. The roast beef was superb and the staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone wishing for a relaxed night out.

It’s been a few months since I’ve been here. As usual generous tasty portions and friendly non intrusive service. A gem in Glebe.

Less crowded tonight than usually, probably due to the Corona pandemic. Fish and chips not as good as in the past - too much batter and not enough cod and chips were over-fried and brittle. Chicken parmigiana seemed a better choice on our table. The semifreddo dessert was average - too sweet and very fatty. Not the best meal we’ve had at a tried and true local.

Great service and a warm atmosphere whether in the beer garden or the restaurant. Ordered the steak and it was cooked exactly how you ordered it. The peppercorn sauce is to die for. All other menu options are always of a high standard using quality ingredients. We keep going back for more!

About the restaurant

Glebe’s watering hole since 1862…

Formerly known as the Australian Youth Hotel, this heritage listed dining institution has undergone a refreshing yet traditional makeover by one of Sydney’s leading hospitality architects Alexander & Co. Now locally known as The Glebe Hotel, it’s continues to cater to its corporate clientele and locals alike with a strong emphasis on quality food and drinks and welcoming staff.

They are on trend with a full range of craft beers, an approachable wine list for your palate and pocket and classic cocktails and spritzes for you to enjoy both before or after dining. The menu has a good offering of counter meals which cater for vegetarians with a crisp Eggplant schnitzel, parmesan, tomato, chilli & olive or your traditional Ale battered fish, mushy peas and hand cut chips. For those with the love of Guinness you can’t go past the Steak & Guinness pie, buttered greens, mash & gravy washed down with Sydney’s best pint of Guinness. For a more refined meal, the heritage listed stables bar and dining offers waited service with some of Sydney’s best gastro pub food. Start with a shared plate of Crisp lamb belly, torched baby gem, salsa verde or Octopus, kipfler, chilli & citrus butter, Bloody Mary aioli and why not wash that down with a glass of fruit driven Nick O’Leary Riesling served in twinkling glass ware. For the meat lovers you can’t go past their signature ‘mixed grill for two’ or one of their char grill steaks notably the 200g wagyu rump cap, rocket, watercress & pickled eschalot, hand cut chips and your choice of house made sauces. Alternatively you may like to try the a Berkshire pork chop, caramelized fennel, pickled mustard caviar, fennel salad or one of their market fresh fish or grill specials.

With a hay loft above the dining room for private functions for up to 30 persons and a leafy beer garden open 7 days for lunch and dinner, The Glebe Hotel continues its heritage as a very, very good pub dining experience.

Reservations through The Fork are only available with table service in our dining room or loft (not the beer garden). Public bar meal deals are not available in the dining room or loft. Dogs are welcome in the public bar & beer garden only. For all other reservation information please contact the hotel directly 9692 0414
