Had dinner with friends. Warm welcome on arrival. The restaurant was empty. Quick table.servucr with menus and beverages. Bread was nice for starter. Mains looked well presented. Duck was dry. Pork Belly crackle dud, not snap. OK portions sizes. Dessert tasty. High price point.

Access is essentially down the "Maple Steps" which are a serious challenge for the elderly to return to the car park . Not advisable for strangers (especially elderly) after dark as the lighting is atrocious. The overflow parking lot is a nightmare.

Great food, great service and excellent location. Just a pity that the open fire place was smouldering and filling the room with smoke. It was a little chilly so some additional wood in the fireplace would have been a really nice touch (and stopped the smoke)!

The restaurant has an intimate, warm atmosphere; the service was superb; and the food was delicious and well-priced. Overall, a memorable and well tailored experience. I'd definitely recommend a visit to couples.

The atmosphere and service were good but unfortunately not the food. We waited a long time for it to be served, the lamb gravy was very salty, the dessert pie filling was not set

The Gorge Restaurant is a little Gem away from the main city centre. Food quality is always great, with a a nice selection of wines available. This is a great place to go for that romantic evening.

Disappointing experience. Had to ask to order meals and ask for second drinks. Meals took a long time to come out, were small and 2 were not as advertised. Crispy skinned pork was soggy, no crisp to been seen, had to scrape the soggy layer of fat to the side and cheesy baked potatoes were simply missing from plate. The explanation, “probably because chef was busy trying to get lots of meals out! “ No care or compensation offered. Lamb shoulder had 4 small pieces of what looked like reheated meat. So disappointed for what was an anticipated visit with visiting family.

Food was good though for a winter night it was quite cool - unless you were able to sit near the open fire which is a lovely touch. Interior is quite plain also however it was nice to see fresh flowers on the table

The staff were welcoming and friendly. We chose to sit inside - an intimate space - it wasn’t very busy today. The food suggestions were on point and tasted great. The mulled wine was delicious.

It was a beautiful autumn day 22 deg & the setting & food were wonderful. My companion & I started with a chowder each & followed that up with one plate of fish cakes. The wine was marked up reasonably & when I asked for an oaked chardonnay, the waiter went to her boss & found a local Dalrymple one that was perfect. A wonderful way to have lunch.

The atmosphere could've been improved with a little heat in the restaurant, it's that time of year that the days can be warm but cools off at night. I had the chicken salad entree and it was just ok, needed a little more dressing, rather dry. I always have the Choc Ripple Vacherin which is always outstanding, but this time the meringues (x2) were bite size rather than the mini meringues, they were delicious but way too small and the most disappointing was the kahlua sauce, it was only decorative and with this meal you usually get loads of sauce which makes the dish outstanding. So I wasn't at all impressed with it this time which means I probably won't go back. My husband had the steak and cream brulee and couldn't fault it. I had a side of fries and they were amazing.
