Food good as always but service was slow and unfriendly, and music was way too loud in hall, had a sore throat after!
Hey, We are happy that you liked our food again. But we are truly sorry that our service was not on point as it should have been. It is hard to control the volume on a busy game day with 200 people in our venue. Therefore we are really sorry. Please feel free to ask our staff for a quiet table upstairs on your next visit.

The Hof Downtown used to be a wonderful German restaurant with all the traditional favourites. They have greatly reduced their menu size to almost nothing. It’s no longer a place to get good, hearty German food but rather a place for drinks only. If you want more traditional German food in Melbourne I’d suggest going to The Hofbrauhaus and not waste your time with The Hof downtown.
Hey Jasmin, Thanks for coming around at our freshly renovated Hof Downtown. After the flooding accident this year march we decided to renovated our venue and our menu. We want to give our customer a new experience of modern food with a hearty bavarian twist. So we still serve couple of our famous bavarian dishes but we want to bring a new bavarian experience to Melbourne.

Service was slow paying the bill. Was referred to the bar and others waiting to pay were queued which is fine but the bar staff were also serving drinks and other customers. Maybe have a separate area for payment particularly during peak periods. I was there for lunch. Otherwise I would dine there again.

Nice place for office drinks. Haven't tried the food though. This place is suitable for after office drinks and they have ample indoor and outdoor space. And have a good selection of German beers.

The Hoff was always a favourite of ours with the massive port knuckle share platter that included sausages and schnitzels and heaps of sides but since having been taken over by new management (so we were told) this has been taken off them menu and almost seems like the prices have possibly increased? Definitely miss the Hoff the way it was...If it’s not broke don’t fix it.

We want to give our customer a new experience of bavarian food. Thats why we took of the platters from the menu. As you may remember our old Platters were about $99. On our new menu you still can find our traditional bavarian dishes like pork knuckle, schnitzel or sausages. Combining those meals you get the same bavarian feast experience like back in the days for $99.5. So the prices haven’t changed. We are truly sorry if you doesn’t like the new look and menu of the Hof Downtown and its new dishes coming with this change. If you are looking for the real traditional bavarian feast experience we would like to recommend you our sister venue Hofbrauhaus Melbourne in 18-28 Market Lane.

Bavarian food hall For Bavarian food, Bier, fun and fröhlich, you simply can’t go past the Hof Downtown. Here you will be transported to a Bavarian wonderland where bier flows freely and waiters serve traditional grub, in large portions. Tables are often loaded with red cabbage, sauerkraut, crispy pork belly, bratwurst sausages, potato dumplings, pickles, mash potato, chicken schnitzel and large crispy pork knuckle...and a bier of course. With such an extensive beer list, it’s highly recommended you gulp down a stein with your meal. For those who simply can’t handle oodles of food, there is a Kleine bite menu to suit.
