Reliable meeting place for catching up with work colleagues in the CBD. Steak day on a Wednesday offers a reasonable value meal, drinks at the bar prices.
I really loved the atmosphere, nice interior and the food was over my expectations. Size, presentation and taste were all better compared to what I assumed after I checked out the menu online. No decaf coffee though.
Overall great food! There was only one waitress so getting drinks took a while but she was trying her best to get around to everyone.
My partner and I are new to Melbourne and have met now at the Mint once a week for the past three weeks for lunch, due to it's location to our places of business. The food has been relatively substandard for what we expected being such an iconic building. Yesterday I ordered the soup on the board (cauliflower) and received Tomato! I did not complain, did not send it back, but did question it and the response was "oh sorry, the soup has just changed". Needless to say I did not finish my lunch. I would not usually give negative feedback, but we are at the stage where we are considering not having a weekly lunch at your venue anymore. Regards.
Great service friendly
Convenient for quick lunch. Food was good. Wait staff were a bit disengaged (not loving their jobs I guess).
Service was excellent.
The service and the food were very good, very tasty; but it was very noisy and people were talking too loud. We prefer quieter places.
We enjoyed our meal and drinks the atmosphere was really good.
Service was excellent
A great pub for lunch in the law district. We had a main course and glass of Shiraz (expertly recommended). Will be back.
Good parmas and good service
Parma's were good and their daily specials are good value, just a bit expensive for drinks.
Great atmosphere and very good food
Nice food and wine :)
Customer service good have been better when the number of people increased (from 4 to 6 so not large difference....). We were nearly turned away and yet there were empty tables. In the end we were placed outdoors near smokers so not ideal solution. After poor start experience improved by quality of food.
There were several large groups at lunch when we went, so I was a bit loud to talk over them and the music. The crowd thinned out about 2pm and it was much more pleasant for us as a couple!
1st time I’ve been to Mint and we went to try out their Steak Night special ($18). Steak and wine was great - some sauce options would have been nice but the red wine jus was good, and the chips and salad a Good accompaniment. We ate in the restaurant but the beer garden looked very inviting too. The only downside was that just after arriving, a song came on (Come on Eileen - which I love as well) but obviously one of the staff really loved it and the music got turned up to a point where it was intrusive and hard to talk. Might work for the beer garden but not comfortable in the restaurant. Will go back to try again.
318 William Street, 3000, Melbourne, Australia
Discreetly placed within the confines of the former Royal Mint, this trendy bar and restaurant is a little bit quirky, a little bit quaint and 100 percent Melbourne. With shadecloths covering the beer garden outside and intimate lighting casting a warm glow over cream tones and open fireplaces inside, every inch of the Mint is understatedly cosmopolitan. The food menu is similarly Melburnian, with a selection of dishes that are as accessible on a warm summer’s day as they are comforting in the chill of winter. The signature chicken parma is a highlight on the menu and has been previously voted the best to be found in the CBD.
