    Amazing food. Very refreshing mixture of classic pub and asian fusion. Great areas to eat and drink throughout the venue. Highly recommended to anyone looking to have a feed or eat a full meal.

    The food was amazing - especially the vietnamese raw tuna salad, chilli pork sliders & the dumplings. There is a strong Vietnamese influence in the menu (It is Victoria St) and it is reasonably priced at about $23 for very generous curry with rice (enough for two). The interior is cool retro modern industrial and is generally comfortable. However, the booking system is beyond dumb. The only interaction you have with staff is on arrival and when the food is delivered, Everything you order is done online at your table (or before you arrive I guess?) including drinks and they ask for a tip upfront - for no service??) and you need to specify everything. How you want your drinks done (apparently there is a box for that in the drinks menu) and whether or not you want your entrees delivered with a gap before you main course. We didn't see that and all the food came together ensuring cold main courses (luckily one was the amazing salad) If you want to split bills or pay for another round of drinks you need to set up individual accounts and pay upfront. I found it frustrating and detracted from an otherwise excellent menu and quality food. I will go back wiser as the food is very good but it did detract from my overall experience. I suggest you thoroughly go through the ordering app before you get there to make sure you have a seamless evening.

    Good food and friendly staff but the new ordering system is a bit complex to work out and of course no-where as easy as just ordering with a waiter. Even with an automated system, meals were missed and often took forever to come

    It was great to find a spot to catch up with friends after the long lockdown in Melbourne. The staff is very friendly, helpful and the food is amazing. Thanks guys. I’m looking forward to coming back.

    Lovely pub with loads of spaces and spots for any occasion. Foods really nice, alot of Asian influence. They're managing covid really well and service was excellent.

    Food was amazing! Had the $20 steak special and a burger. Really good. Took a little while for the drinks and had to flag down the waiter but overall really good. Would definitely recommend

    Came here for the boozy brunch offering. It was shocking. Didn’t get a drink until 55minutes into the first hour. Staff had no issue though with telling us over and over again that they practiced strict RSA rules. Couldn’t get drunk there even if you tried. 30minuted btwn ordering any drink and it actually coming out. What makes if worse, emailed the VM directly..and got no response. Shocking venue. Won’t return and will never recommend.

    It was a terrible experience, they were massively understaffed and the service was probably some of the worst I’ve ever witnessed. My advice would be to not go for special events as they have no idea how to cater for busier times. Very sad really because we were very much looking forward to our Melbourne Cup day there which we booked a month in advance.

    Love the fit out and ambience, service great, lovely staff. We did the $20 all you can eat dumplings but they are not top quality, so that was disappointing. Burger was good.

About the restaurant

The Nash

Known to locals as ‘The Nash’, The National Hotel is a breath of fresh air amongs the Vietnamese mile of Victoria Street in Richmond. Behind subtle grey walls lies five ‘provinces’, each with their own vernacular, unified yet different. There’s the cafe, booth seating, opium den, dining room and courtyard. All governed by one central body - the bar. Monumental, the bar stretches the length of the building from the inside to out, enabling staff to serve patrons in any of the ‘provinces’. This cool and casual modern pub was stripped down to its bones in the latest renovation and then filled with a rich and textural palette of recycled materials to divide and enrich the space. It’s a beautiful place for any occasion. Expect plenty of the usual pub tipple plus a delicious array of Asian-inspired bites and meals too. The Nash is a place for people to come together in their own community – where the architecture, like the staff, is proud to serve.
