The food and wait staff was excellent. The waiter really took the time to explain everything to us. The only downside was the outside seating due to all the flies. Other than that everything was top notch.

Service and location were great. Very disappointed in the food though, which was a shame because we were REALLY looking forward to it. Ordered the soup with clams and I had to actually spit it out. They were really nice about it we told them that the clams had been long dead before they were sacrificed for the soup; even went so far as to tell us that they were taking clams off the menu for the night because they agreed it was not fresh. However, everything after that was just not great. House gyoza was nice, but black bean pork, mapo tofu, shrimp dumpling (har gow)...all regrettable. Best dish of the night was the steamed broccoli of all things. My kids don’t even like broccoli most nights but were fighting for it given the options. There are lots of great restaurants in Lisbon. This is not one of them.
Just go! You will not be disappointed! The food is delicious, the menu is so big and looks so good; you will have to come back. Totally loved it, including husband and kids.

The food was very good and the setting beautiful. Pity we coukd not get a glass of bubbley, only a bottle....the house rose was Matteus and Portugal has a lot better than that for comparable price.

This is a great restaurant. The menu was extensive but everything is made to order, the staff were very friendly and there was a very orderly but relaxed atmosphere. I had some dumplings for starter that were AMAZING. For main I had beef stir fry and fried rice, which were very pleasant, though not mind blowing. However, the portions were very large - I didn’t even eat half of my main and certainly didn’t have room for desert. Next time I’m in Lisbon, I’m definitely eating here again!

My suggestion would be to seat families in one room and couples in another. We were seated in the first room to the right of the entrance and is was full of families, many babies screeming - all normal for a sunday lunch in Lisbon. But when you pay what you pay in the Old House, the confort and ambience have to be much better than this! I asked for another table but was told it was full, which I doubt, since the restaurant is huge.

Everything was perfect, I recommend the first times to listen to the waiter recommendation dishes, you won't be disappointed and will be very satisfied!
This was our second visit and it was even better than the first. We have eaten Chinese food in many countries around the world and this is without exception our favorite Remarkable flavors, texture and culinary skill. We look forward to our next visit but wish we could transport The Old House to New York City (our home)
