New Year's Eve warranted a special meal out and this filled the spot perfectly well. The Fullerton Hotel is a great building and The Place sits in the middle of a historic space. The service was friendly and fun and the team created a great NYE experience. The food and matching wines were excellent and very tasty. A few fun accessories were provided to create the right mood. We'll definitely be back here.
We were looking for a place to spend New Year's Eve. Saw The Place on The Fork and thought it'd be a cool place to try. The ambience was lovely, the restaurant was very nice and the food was delicious. Our server, Megawati, was great!!! She and the other ladies were all lovely, friendly and helpful with the wine choices. We will definitely be eating there again in future. :-)
Nice setting for a business lunch. The menu is ordinary though.
Excellent food as usual and beautiful atmosphere ????
Very nice place. The staffs are very friendly and the food is excellent. We had a great Christmas dinner there.
Christmas Eve Birthday dinner for my wife - From the time we arrived Sophie & her associates made us feel very special - so attentive to their customer service. Each dish in the 3 course menu was so well presented, explained & delicious. By the time desert came around we were both very full & then there was a little birthday treat as well. Could not fault any aspect of this well laid out venue on the first floor which of course provides a lovely facade. Will certainly be back - Thank You
Great venue, not the best bao in town, but the curries were not too bad. Be sure to try and book an atrium table, otherwise you’re missing out on the best bit...in fact they could have set more atrium tables I thought.
Soup was ok. However, the club sandwich was not toasted. The fried egg yolk burst and made the sandwich too soggy and hard to hold the sandwich by hand. I ended up eating only 1 / 4 and eat the fillings of the other 3 / 4 and leave the bread out. The waitresses are not attentive at all. There were only 3 to 4 tables at lunch. Very disappointing for a 5 star hotel when they can't even make a proper club sandwich. Do not expect the same quality as in the Singapore one here at this one. The management has a lot to improve in terms of training the wait staff, and the chef skills.
The Place has an amazing ambience, good service and beautiful foods. My family and I love The Place. We often celebrate special events at the Place.
Nice atmosphere. Attentive waiters.
Wonderful food, great ambience and excellent staff. Love it here and it was as exceptional as usual. Highly recommend a visit!!
Love The Place! Excellent food, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Whether for a special occasion or a business lunch - this is The Place to dine :)
Whilst it wasn’t unpleasant, it was a disappointing return to dining out. Greeting on arrival was slower than necessary (keeping in mind reduced staff in current climate) we were left waiting as other tasks were prioritised. The sanitary processes were in full view with masks, gloves and other measures, however being handed laminated reuseable menus seemed a contradiction of the extra measures. The environment was lifted by the beauty of the old gpo building but it stopped there, simply no atmosphere. ‘Elevator music’, could hear every footstep throughout the room, furniture more office friendly than entertaining. We ordered a charcuterie board, which looked like it would be delicious, only to have our mains come and another ten minutes pass before they released they hadn’t brought it. The staff were polite and pleasant and the food we received was edible... but nothing more than a food court at the local shopping mall. All in all we stayed through, completed the meal and the wished the pleasant staff a nice evening but we had made this reservation based on a 9.5 rating in this site, it certainly wasn’t. My partner described it as a room service meal. There is much potential but for our first visit we were hoping for that 9.5 experience and unfortunately that wasn’t to be.
We had Lunar New Year lunch at The Place for 8 people, so chose only the Singaporean dishes. The must-have Prosperity Toss Salad (known as Yee Sang) was extortionately expensive at $38 for 4 pieces of salmon and very little salad. The salad did not taste exceptionally better than other places we've tried (for Yee Sang) so I can't see how the price is justified. Other dishes we had were the Salmon Biryani (good), Wagyu Rendang (average) & Chicken Singapore Curry (nothing special). Portion-wise, food was really catered for 1 individual - not generously portioned like you would expect Asian food to be (even if it is in a hotel). Prior to this lunch we were planning to come for high tea one day, but after this experience, have decided not to because for the price paid, can get better fine dining elsewhere.
Lovely food and very enjoyable
The food was okay. Service was average. The atmosphere was office like with no character
Nice open, relaxing environment with high ceiling. Great attentive service. Delicious food, with some East West fusion. Would be happy to return again.
Could not fault the service and staff. I took my mum for her birthday and they surprised us with a beautiful cake and took our drinks off of the bill. The food was also fantastic. Will be back
Great location, service and food. Will come back

In the heart of Sydney’s CBD The Fullerton Hotel Sydney displays its awe-inspiring architecture. Inside, you’ll find The Place, an ideally situated restaurant with a fine-dine feel. It’s housed in the grand old General Post Office, one of Sydney’s oldest and most beautiful buildings. And its sun-dappled dining room basks in the light of the glass roof atrium that connect the hotel and the GPO. The setting is glorious. Even the interior is furnished with ultra-modern hotel-ish decor, with warming brown hues and vibrant sunlit colours. The Place's brand of dining is modern Australian with a particular bent towards uber-health. All meals have been prepared with the modish superfood-pairs so they’re bursting with antioxidants as much as they are with flavours. The idea is to support the health and wellbeing of travellers as they pass through this wonderful city, and giving them a taste of luxury. Try the eggs Benedict for a to-die-for breakfast drenched in hollandaise sauce. Go on, mosey on in for an experience of health and opulence.
