Excellent
Food was very good, service friendly but a little patchy. Great atmosphere and it’s a place I’m happy to return to.
Handy little place for a work lunch. Had to flag the waiter a few times, and a short menu (small kitchen I’m assuming), but tasty. Will be back again
I love this cosy place, one of my Melbourne favourites. Great service and always great food. The choice of food is amazing. Also in great location
The ambience of Degraves street is lovely. The Quarter is very welcoming with excellent service and the food was enjoyed by all! Will definitely go back.
Great ambience, brilliant service and amazing food. Great little piece of Melbourne in an iconic laneway. Highly recommended for locals and travellers alike.
Such a lovely venue! Fabulous food, fabulous atmosphere and fabulous service. A group of former work colleagues we have a catch up a few times a year. This was not the first time we've had dinner there and definitely won't be the last. As we left tonight we were already planning our next catch up at the same venue. Highly recommended!!
What a gem of a place! A taste of European style and experience, in the heart of our CBD. We had our end of year work Christmas dinner, and we felt we were dining in a Parisian restaurant or a cafe in Venice. It's a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. The vibe was amazing and the service terrific. This is one of those places you'd put on your "list of Melb favs". ????✔????
Great good and ambience
I love The Quarter and have been hanging to get back after lockdown. A little disappointed that their famous Sticky Date pudding wasn't available. :(. The choc brownie was a good second. Always extremely friendly and amazing service. Please bring back sticky date... Amazing. The lamb shanks and spaghetti were sooo good. Great serving sizes and very quick and efficient to get meals out. Thank you for a much missed delicious dinner :)
Ordered an ice coffee, was asked if I wanted ice cream and whipped cream, I said yes pls and almond milk. A short black arrived at the table, was told the almond milk must have confused them with my order because I was ok with whipped cream and ice cream....a lot of ppl just prefer almond milk over full milk now days, dies t mean they r lactose intolerant . When coffee returned, I was given a ‘iced coffee’ with warm milk, and a tiny drop of ice cream (no cream). Why ask if o want whipped cream and ice cream. An iced cofee is meant to be iced cold, not literally like warm, having already sent back once for them getting it wrong , I wasn’t comfortable doing it again. Then ordered the red velvet pancakes, they were not red velvet, they were chocolate. Another small thing, my friend did not receive the drink he ordered with his meal as they had forgotten. The women, who I presume was the manager was ok. The other stuff though, although nice to ur face look extremely put out and try to ignore if u put ur hand out up to get their attention to ask for something. I felt like we were a bit of an imposition, rather then welcome. So yeah wasn’t terrible... but wasn’t great.
Brilliant personalised service, fantastic atmosphere and beautifully presented, tasty food. My new favourite place in the lane! Sitting in the lane makes for a very Melbourne brunch
The cafe was a great find. The atmosphere, ambiance, food and service were all amazing. It is a great place to have a little brunch or to just go and have a coffee as well.
Nice atmosphere but unfortunately was let down by the food. It might just be what I ordered (the mixed bao buns), because others in my group seemed ok with what they had. The bao buns were meant to be chicken, fish, and pork. The pork was super dry, and I didn't really see or taste any chicken. Two out of the 3 buns had small pieces of ham sprinkled over them. The fish one was nice though.
It's a great place for dinner on a Friday night. The atmosphere is great so is the food varieties and taste. The waiters and waitresses are friendly.
A great spot in Degraves St. Warm friendly staff (and when there Eftpos machine went down in the 41degree heat of Melbourne, I was able to come back two hours later to pay). Seating is both inside and outside. Food is really tasty - we had chicken wings and sliders and loved them both.

Cafe culture
Degraves Street is one of Melbourne’s cutest and most famous European-style laneways. With its cosy little cafes, aroma of coffee beans and abundant outdoor seating that flood the alley, it’s what makes Melbourne such a loveable city. The Quarter Cafe is proud to be one of these restaurants along the strip. It has a bustling al fresco setting and warm interior decorated with chic European photography and exotic lamps. Breakfast, lunch or dinner – any time of day is right to experience Melbourne’s cafe culture. At The Quarter Cafe breakfast includes modest yet delicious dishes like toasties and scones with cream and jam. Lunch and dinner menus carry on the Euro-vibe with a tantalising blend of world spices. Also available are delectable homemade pasta dishes like leafy gnocchi, and sexy gourmet pizzas like the vegetarian with its exotic mushrooms and aged cheese. If you’re after something more substantial, you won’t be able to resist the beef rump steak with pommes frits and salad. Enjoy your delicious meal with matching wine, or some churros from the dessert menu.
