Nice food, Well presented and flavourful. Service wasn't up to my expectations, but I've had worse. Surprising considering it wasn't busy. I think the server wasn't well trained and management didn't take the time to provide guidance. I'd label it dump and run, which is not unusual in Australian pubs but when spending over 100 on food and more on wine and ordering several dishes to share, I didn't think it acceptable.

Service was extremely poor - they were clearly understaffed. Food was very nice and with the exception of the extreme lack of service, it was a nice restaurant.

Seemed expensive for what we had. One of our party had a poor risotto, but the venue was very good & didn't charge for it. They couldn't have been more helpful.

the chicken pate was delicious. perhaps stupidly i ordered the rump steak which was disgraceful. food cost of my meal would have been around $5 for the steak (tough as old boots and poor cut) and $4 for the potato and broccoli, so $9 on $38 menu price is food cost of 23%. should be around 30% to 35% - too much margin folks means very poor dish which means this review. don't believe me.....you sit down and eat that piece of steak and see if you think that is a $38 menu item. i eat there frequently and will probably go back but i sure as hell wont be eating the steak.

Worst experience at a lunch I’ve ever had. Ordered drinks when we sat down and waited a half hour. Absolutely no service, only restaurant staff was serving in the bar. Ever table waiting to be served. Left after a half hour, without a drink even being poured. Who is doing the rosters, it’s friday lunch! Bloody awful!

About the restaurant

Meet you at the Tilb

The Tilbury has undergone an extensive makeover in recent years, which had made it a serious contender for Sydney’s best pub interior. There’s not too much glass, it’s still relaxed enough to lure the locals and slick enough to double as a popular place for groups and functions. Such as just getting your mates together for a drink and good meal to celebrate a non-milestone birthday. The a la carte restaurant menu tends to the sophisticated-sounding beetroot cured salmon, wasabi granita, avocado mousse and salmon roe or Cootamundra lamb rack, ratatouille, garlic puree, white anchovy beignet with prices to match. But on the weekends, at least, the bar menu is a far more easy-breezy line-up of spiced nuts, garlic prawn wraps, buffalo wings and wedges. All in all a great spot to while away a quiet Sunday arvo with friends over a glass or two of chilled wine or a midi of craft beer on tap.

Best dish: Chilli crab slider with lime mayo
