This is not “going out for dinner”. This is an amazing experience from start to finish. A warm welcome from the tiny team. Incredible food with such attention to detail - every dish a work of art. We’ve eaten in some posh places. This wasn’t posh - it was perfect.

What a wonderful experience! The food was delicious, Selim and Dan were excellent hosts, it was an evening to remember. Definitely a place to go!

Amazing and unforgettable. A once in a lifetime experience that leaves you with a surreal feeling of “did that just really happen?” We felt humbled to be on the receiving end of Selim’s incredibly thoughtful, dare I say genius, approach to the dishes, all of which were stunning and unique in their own right. This was a deeply personal experience and you leave feeling changed.

The outstanding dining experience! If you haven't been yet, you should go and enjoy this amazing dining shared with nice company. Never have been treated so special and perfect. The hosts Selim and Dan created a heartwarming atmosphere and also amazing dishes. Every single one is extraordinarily designed and tells an interesting story. The food is made of seasonal and regional ingrediants from the island. You can choose between the drink menue or match accompanying drinks enjoyment. Take the last one. There is a new concept in town which shows you a new art of dining with exclusive and very creative dishes. It's worth every second!

Delighted to have found this little restaurant and loved the concept of dining on one table and meeting new people. Our hosts Selim Felipe and Dan ensured the evening was memorable as soon as we arrived. Every dish was a masterpiece to behold on the eye .Attention to detail was excellent but above all by experimenting with local produce and innovative techniques they have created something very special. Dinner at the Wanderer is an amazing experience. The food is beautifully constructed and a feast for the eyes with every dish full of flavours. The entire team are passionate about what they do and the concept of locally sourced ingredients mixed with a worldwide influence on the taste of each dish makes for an enjoyable and interesting result. The restaurant space is very inviting and the herb garden a relaxing place to finish the evening. Local pottery for each dish and local crafted beverages enhance the meal. I would definitely recommend a visit

Selim, Dan and Felipe have been able to mix a michelin-starred technical ability, an informal atmosphere and a cultural rollercoaster connecting Madeira, Asia, Italy, and France. It has been the most delicious and surprising dinner I had in my entire Life. I was particularly amazed by: non-alcoholic cocktails that changed flavour while sitting in the glass as if they were wines, a combination of mushrooms and blackberries sauce that shouldn't have work and yet it was, amazing ingredients whose existence I ignored, a tour of the chef's vinegar production, a shitake-based creamy tea. Make yourself a gift and have dinner here, they will blow your mind and your tastebuds!

Truth, passion and excellence: best experience I had in any of the restaurants in Funchal including those Michelin seared ones. Place to go to immediately to try all the local ingredients joined by imagination and passion. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our evening at The Wanderer. The food was outstanding and every dish was beautifully explained by Selim. His knowledge of the local produce that he sources is second to none. Our dining partners were a young dynamic Portuguese couple who were excellent company.

Arriving at wanderer is like arriving to a friend's house. Dan is a excellent PR. He greets you in a warm friendly way and he makes sure you are comfortable and welcomed. Dinner is a storytelling and by the end of it, you feel you know the team as old friends of yours. The food is tasty, well paired and most importantly made with care and attention to details. The ingredients are local and therefore seasonal, and so is the menu. We found this concept interesting, because on our next visit, it will be a completely different menu and a brand new suprise. The chef Selim is thoughtful, approachable and is eager to share his art and knowledge. At the end of the evening, we had a nice chat in the garden and had a blast with our new friends. Going to wanderer is not about having dinner is allowing different people to bound through flavours and mutual interests.
