Waitress long face and grumpy, slow drink service. Food good but not worth the prices. Location next to a Laundromat not ideal position for a restaurant.

Think a large plant screen obscuring some of the car park would improve ambiance

So great! I'm a regular here, and for good reason! It was very busy (Valentine's day), but the staff were so attentive and efficient, you didn't really notice. As usual, the food and wine were superb.

About the restaurant

Barrels of fun The furnishings may be recycled but the food certainly isn’t! The Wine Barrel is a great place to spend an evening and have a meal, and you will get even more out of the experience if you have time to stop a while and ask a few questions about the interior of the venue from the friendly floor staff. Nearly every piece has a story to tell and when you start looking around, there is a lot to see. A beautiful onyx stone bar, the wine barrels in the main room. A log wall and lots of recycled materials make this a designers’ showcase. And let’s not forget the wine and food! So much of the produce is locally owned or made; and by specialist artisans such as the ‘Jam Man’, local Paul Granger, and the Mudgeeraba Bakery supplying all their gorgeous loaves. The menu is mostly smaller tapas-style dishes made to share, and there are plenty to choose from. Sweet items, salads, breads and many others such as tataki beef, crispy soy quail, nori-wrapped scallops, and peppered kangaroo. Naturally no BYO as this is a wine venue – and their list has pretty much everything you could want anyway. The Wine Barrel are also a lounge, and they encourage you to come, sample some delicious food made by owner-chef Warren Carnall and kick back for the night. Best dish: Tempura soft shell crab
