6.5/10We were seated and said “ they would be back to explain the menu”. No one returned. Ordered on my phone via app at table. When drinks arrived the were just dumped. I know they were busy but we felt completely ignored. On the plus side, the food was great.

9.5/10This was the second time back at 3rd wave and did not disappoint. The experience (food, service) being fantastic - will be back with our group again - and I suspect by the positive feedback I have received from those with me at the time and by word of mouth, our group will be bigger!

10/10Delicious food, decent serve. I order chicken wings with coleslaw salad and my partner ordered dininsor ribs- all looking amazing but very filling.

10/10Passionate owner is obsessed with creating the most succulent, tender properly seasoned barbequed meat at it's best. One of my new favourites well done Third Wave.

6/10This wasn't our first time to Third Wave Cafe. It was Father's Day and as expected the place was full, and because of this it appears they have dropped their service a bit. Firstly, on booking Third Wave takes a $100 hold to secure your booking. When we arrive out table booking is not at 6:45pm as booked through The Fork but at 7:00pm. We were lucky enough to be seated, but this cause issues later on. We ordered our favourite the ribolaki - and it was enough to feed one and not two this time. It seems they cut the portion size and the rib we got was just the end and half fat. so at about 7:40 after barely finishing our food and drinks we are asked to leave as the table is booked in 10 minutes. I confirmed how long the booking sessions were and they were supposed to be 90 minutes. We weren't even there for an hour, and we were being asked to leave. Oh well, they missed out on us getting a dessert.

9.5/10Delicious barbecue with a vegan option which held its own against the meat. The service was incredibly friendly, portions were big and flavour was great.

3.5/10Table was too close to the front counter. Hard to order using app, hated the non interaction. And customer service was non existent Had to go to the front counter to order without a menu. Just ordered what I remembered from website. Disappointed in the $11 sunday surcharge. Plus service fee what a joke. The meat platter was cold. Ive been coming a few times but tonight was an absolute tragedy. This establishment has definitely gone downhill. Overpriced and food was not the best. Lost me for ever. Never coming back or recommending this place to my friends.

10/10You definitely need to be hungry, especially if you plan to eat everything whilst you are still seated at The Third Wave! Eating at a pavement table outdoors is good if you enjoy an evening sea breeze on a warm/hot summer's evening. (or if you are super cautious about COVID-19! But the table spacing indoors looks fine).

10/10I was initially very disappointed to note that the vrisket was sold out and had to have the burger and I have to say that it was amazing! I’d never have tried the burger if they weren’t out of my favourite vrisket and I’m not at all disappointed- will definitely have the burger again. Great evening, thank you

9.5/10The Third Wave Cafe recently relocated to Albert Park from Port Melbourne. Compared with the former premises we were very impressed with the more spacious cafe and its ambience. Should you decide on a few drinks with your meal there's public transport (tram) outside the door to get you home, or the nearby beach alongside Beaconsfield Parade to "walk-off" your excesses! On arrival, we were met by a very cheerful Zoey, Completing the mandatory Covid-19 register and hand sanitisation Zoey quickly showed us to our reserved table. Selecting from a wide range of dishes from the menu, our order was taken and served with only a short wait. The Lamb Quesadilla (entree) was well-filled and the wrap was crispy. As for the Slow-Cooked BBQ Beef Ribs, Wow! The small serve portions consisted of two large succulent and tender ribs - enough for two people - especially when accompanied by a bowl of Spicy Beer-Battered chips and a smoked Mac & Cheese. In summary, a great meal for those who have big appetites. Would highly recommend to family and friends.

9.5/10The food was fantastic! Ordered the beef ribs and it comes with a side already (I chose the smoky mac and cheese). The ribs was flavorful and perfect when paired with the horseradish sauce; and the mac and cheese was delicious!

Wave hello
Third wave cafe is a charming little place in Port Melbourne with an ambient interior and beachy outdoor area. Third Wave doubles as a cafe by day and an American-style BBQ house by night. Meats are slow cooked and smoked with a range of different woods like hickory and apple, producing delicious and subtle flavours. The juicy pork ribs are done Southern style using dry spices and two different kinds of sauces. And their beef ribs are made from a one-of-a-kind recipe, with an unforgettable blend of nine spices and hot sauce. They even have a number of Russian dishes that include the crepe-like blintzes, filled with meat, cheese or vegetarian ingredients, and Russian dumplings known as pelmeni. This place is just full of surprises! Their specials menu will wow you with super-delicious American goodies like the maple syrup candied bacon and Texan fried brisket. Gluten free options are aplenty and vegetarians need not miss out.
