I absolutely loved dining at Thirty Eight Chairs. The vibe is relaxed but charming, the food is authentic (loved the duck ragu pasta!) and the pasta homemade, and the wine list superb. We can’t wait to return.

Fabulous pasta. Gnocchi were very tasty. The veal ragù was absolutely delicious. Their calamari, bruschetta and burrata were superb. Great wine selection too. Love this restaurant.

Excellent service. Highly professional, food very good but missed the Moreton bay bugs on the risotto special. Will definitely go back

We had a lovely evening. Shame it lacked a bit of intimacy. We enjoyed the food, especially the eggplant lasagna. Our waiter was absolutely excellent... a true professional.

We’re regulars here. Amazing food - the pasta is incredible. Service can sometimes be a bit slow (eg. wine refills) but nothing major. Highly highly recommend.

Great food, great wine, great service, great setting. The freshest, most delicious pasta we’ve had in australia.

About Thirty Eight Chairs

Take a seat There is no shortage of Italian in Melbourne, but exceptional Italian is few and far between. Enter, Thirty Eight Chairs. This intimate, smart and stylish all day eatery is the place to come for a fusion of Southern Italian cuisines. Thirty Eight Chairs blends dishes from Campania and Sicily, with a hint of Emilia Romagna. Among stylish wooden tables and chairs (thirty eight to be exact), industrial light fittings, a red meat slicer imported from Italy, an old school weighing scale and beautiful Italian marble bar you can enjoy antipasti, pasta (the hero dishes) and beautiful secondi dishes too.
