Turning Japanese. ‘Torin’ means ‘east forest’ in Japanese, making it the perfect name for a local Japanese restaurant in the Sydney suburb of Eastwood. The menu covers all your favourites, from simple sashimi and sushi through noodle dishes, hot pots, donburi and tonkatsu, to tempura and teriyaki. And if you can’t decide between that little lot, there’s a great selection of bento boxes to give you a taste of everything. There are some distinct Korean influences across the menu (including sides of kimchi), which reflect the nationality of the owners, but for the most part this is authentic, traditional Japanese fare. The restaurant also has a private function room that can be hired for larger parties or business lunches and welcomes families. The main dining area is clean and comfortable and free of the noise and bustle of some similar sushi spots in the area. Well worth a try! Best Dish: Bento box.
