This was a great restaurant once. Food was ordinary, service, whilst attentive wasn’t up to scratch. Disappointing meal. They have to spruce up the restaurant and get some better Greek food.

We love Greek food. This was good, but not great. Spanikopita was in a firm pastry, not in a light, flakey filo. But, filling excellent. Dolmas were just filled with mushy rice, no distinguishable currants, mint or lamb. (Menu didn't say there was lamb, but would have made them better). We did have a good time, nice staff, fun atmosphere, but probably won't go back.

Fantastic service, food was excellent, unfortunately next to a very noisy table but overall a lovely night out.

The food and service were excellent. However it was a hot night and the air conditioners were not working properly so it was warm and humid. Besides, the table next to us was very noisy and we couldn't hear ourselves think. 2 pairs of diners next to us left early because of the noise.

We were welcomed very warmly to this great restaurant and that was just the start! We placed a drink order which shortly after arrived. Mixed dips, bread and saganaki cheese ordered - all fantastic! Mains ordered by the five of us included the mixed grill, the kleftiko (lamb) and the special beef casserole to name a few. All plates cleaned! The food was simply delicious! Moving to dessert we shared a mixed dessert platter and also ordered the loukamades, all of which were first class! Accompanied by a few Mythos beers and a bottle of wine, we had an awesome meal! We’ll be back when next in Melbourne for sure!

Everything was okay until dishes were missed from our banquet...when we mentioned this the server pretended she didn't realise and offered to bring out the vegetables but this was pointless as we had finished everything else..no compensation was offered!

We love Greek food and came here with a lot of expectations as it's one of the last few Greek restaurants that are still standing in the Greek precinct in Melbourne. The food was nice but the service was not so good. I wish the person who served us was more friendly.

Our reservation was not recorded but I had the confirmation on my phone. Although there was a free table, the manager said it was booked by others. We were treated as if the really wished we would leave but eventually “allowed” to sit at a table next to a sliding door that made a loud noise every few minutes as people arrived or left. One waitress for the whole restaurant meant service was very slow and food was ordinary at best.

Traditional Greek with a home cooked flavour. Lovely dips & pita, dolmades to start. Main courses ok, beef casserole was tasty. Service a little slow but overall a good night.

Overall the banquet we ordered was a good variety and well presented however a clear lack of meat was evident. Two meat dishes throughout the whole banquet and literally one lamb cutlet and one souvlaki per person. Disappointed with this and did impact the overall experience for the group.

About the restaurant

Destination Greece There’s plenty of good food to be found on Lonsdale Street in Melbourne, and Tsindos Greek Restaurant is no exception. Tsindos serves traditional Greek food, just like they’ve been doing for decades. The atmosphere here is laid back, the kind of place to bring a few friends for a catch-up over a bottle of Greek wine. There’s often live music, and you just might feel inclined to dance off that dinner. If you order the banquet, make sure you bring you’re A-game. It’s a lot of food. A lot! “Banquet 2” includes mixed dips, saganaki, grilled octopus, dolmades, whitebait, Greek salad, a seafood platter, meat platter, dessert and coffee or tea. For those slightly less ambitious, order one of the traditional chargrilled meats like the lamb souvlaki. There are seafood options and a tempting array of salads to start with, plus all the appetisers you’d expect in a traditional Greek joint: haloumi, grilled artichoke and feta, fried zucchini and more. So many good options… How will you choose? Best dish: Marinated lamb cutlets
